If you take time this week to reflect on anything- please have it be this.

Your habits are impacting your current life and your future life. Positive and negative, what you choose to do today impacts your tomorrow. It's really critical when planning habit changes to super priortize being gentle with yourself.

It's easy to see reminders like this, and feel a rush of pressure to jump on the judgment train. I can guarantee you, that you have a habit in mind that you know you want/need to change and you're very likely already being hard on yourself for not doing it perfectly today.

Here's the thing- perfectionism kills progress. What builds solid progress is doing your best every day to make the healthier choices that support the life you want, the changes you want, and the health you want. Do not worry about being perfect. Focus on making the best choices you can, and don't throw away positive progress cause you had a cookie one day, or because you didn't go to the gym, or let up on a healthy boundary.

Each morning, remind yourself of the healthy habits that are important to you, and try your best every day to meet those intentions. Be gentle with yourself through change. Be kind if you "mess" up.

All of that said, if you never make changing a bad habit into a good one a priority, that habit will hurt you at some point. It's too easy to keep putting things off until the perfect time.

The "perfect" time is today. The "perfect" choice is doing the best you can.

I have a feeling we could all use this affirmation reminder.

Each morning, when you want to judge your body, try this loving affirmation instead. Don't give any more energy to judging your body. If you feel the need to make a change- do the best you can every day to make the healthy choices that support the change you want, but don't hate the body you have in the meantime. Love the things you like, and love the things you don't. Most of what you're judging is tapes from other people and society.

When you decide you're going to choose you- your needs, your health, your goals - what happens? What feelings come up that make you question your desire to support yourself? Guilt is pretty common, and that's always something worth taking a look at.

Taking care of yourself doesn't make you selfish. I always like reminding my clients that you're not here to live your life soley for other people. You're here to live your life. Pursue your goals, your needs, your dreams. You can still love, help, and support other people in your life and also live your life.

I wanted to take a minute to today to share what I think is a really critical reminder- our life is each and every current moment we're living. Our life is not only what might happen in the future or what did happen in the past.

Too often, I hear people talk about amazing things that they'll get to later. Eventually. Some day. When they have time, have perfected their finances, they're finally retiring, or in the event of reaching a set goal. The problem with this is that time and our health is never guaranteed. I wish it was, for everyone, but it's not.

Don't put off that amazing dream vacation because you can't go for a month and hit every cool spot- visiting any part of that vacation spot will still be a memory. Carve out time for a hobby that's important to you just because it's important to you. Don't be afraid of starting over cause you think you're too old, people will judge you, or you just can't. Buy flowers cause you like them. Plan that long weekend somewhere you've always wanted to explore. Decorate your house in a way that makes you happy at home. Keep people in your life that add more positives to your lived experience than negative. Be true to yourself. Learn healthy boundaries and how to express your needs.

Your life is happening now. Remember to live it, in the most balanced way you can. Take care of your body, mind, and spirit.
