I came across this picture and goes along with my work.
Over the years—35 to be exact—I’ve seen a lot of people come in with back pain. When I’m taking their history, I’ll ask, “How long has this been hurting?” Some say 4 years, others 5 or 10... I even had a person recently say 25 years with her pain a 8-10 out of 10, 10 being severe. That’s a little too long!
I usually ask why they lived with it for so long. Many say their mom or dad had a bad back, so they just assumed they’d have one too and learned to live with it. I’ve heard that at least 100 times.
But most of the time, that’s just not the case. About 99% of the people who come in here feel better later and are very Happy!
One of my favorite things to tell patients is: “You’re going to wish you came in sooner.” And almost every single one of them agrees. If you’re a patient of mine reading this, I’ve probably said it to you!
Helping people feel better and seeing a smile on their face is cool. When they smile, you know they’re finally feeling better.
