November is National Pet Diabetes Awareness Month 💜
Diabetes mellitus is a condition where the body can’t properly regulate blood sugar (glucose) levels. It happens when the pancreas doesn’t produce enough insulin or when the body doesn’t respond to insulin normally.

With proper management—regular insulin injections, a consistent diet, and monitoring—many diabetic pets can live long, healthy lives.

Keep up to date on your pets wellness exams for early interventions and preventative care 🐾

Happy Veterinary Technician Appreciation Week! Be sure to give your vet tech an extra thank you for all the hats they wear when ensuring your pet is cared for in every way possible 🫶🏻

Vet Techs are the quiet strength behind every successful treatment, every wagging tail, and every purr of relief. We do the messy, the tough, and the heartbreaking jobs — not for recognition, but because we care deeply about every life that crosses our path. 🐾

Today, we honor the beloved pets who have crossed the Rainbow Bridge.

We invite you to share a photo of your cherished pet in the comments. Together, we can celebrate the unconditional love and joy they gave us.

And while we remember those we’ve lost, we also remember those still waiting for love. If you’re ready to open your heart again, take a look at the pets hoping for a forever home: https://www.countyofmonterey.gov/government/departments-a-h/health/monterey-county-animal-services/adopt-a-pet

Central coast pet owners, please be advised. We urge all dog owners to read this article and follow updates on the recent Leptospirosis outbreak affecting Sea Lions in our area. Leptospirosis is a zoonotic disease, meaning it can easily spread to other species like dogs and humans who frequent the beach. “Lepto” is a bacterial disease spread by urine in bodies of water, causing kidney failure. Please ensure your dogs are up to date on the Leptospirosis vaccination to mitigate the potential spread.

An early and aggressive wave of the kidney-attacking disease is hitting sea lions harder than in past years, with growing concerns for dogs and beachgoers.
