I have been seeing this new trend lately. Clinicians claiming to practice lifestyle medicine to get you in their door.

Your first 🚩— a giant wall of supplements for sale at the entrance.

Then after meeting the clinician, you walk out with a cart of supplements they conveniently sell, a long list of detox protocols including restrictive, elimination diets, and an order for expensive labs you must get before you can follow up. Oh and don’t forget your coupon for 10% off o their aesthetics and red light therapy! 🙄

That is not lifestyle medicine. That is a bait and switch. Wealth is not health, my friend.

At Cool Creek Family Health, we practice true lifestyle medicine through patient-clinician connection, honest conversations, realistic goal setting and accessibility. Labs are affordable and evidence based. We do not sell supplements but can recommend evidence based options based on your testing.

True lifestyle medicine, doesn’t come with massive supplement walls, expensive protocols and additional sales pitches. But if that’s your thing, more power to you, but please stop calling that lifestyle medicine.

Not medical advice but definitely a trend I see clinically. Influencers profiting off peptide and non-evidence based supplement sales because they have ZERO vested interest in your long term health, just their bottom line.

Then the patients comes into primary care, plops a bag on my desk and asks “Can you get these cheaper or tell me which ones I really need?”

The answer…you don’t need any of them! We strip down the “regimen” and then get back to basics.

✅ Regular meals with fiber rich foods

✅ Daily movement fitting into lifestyle

✅ 7-8hrs of quality sleep

✅ Avoidance of risky substances

✅ Positive social connect and stress management

Stop looking for an influencer to save you. Only YOU can save you and we are here to help and be your guide.

Starting and owning a small business hasn’t been easy and vacations are certainly hard to get. But this year, I took my first “not on call” vacation in 6 years! Thankful for an amazing clinic partner, Keyla Matthews, FNP who held down the fort. Thankful for our continued growth with patients who love our services and the ability to get a little rest, recharge and relaxation!

There you have it Mr. N…I was destined to be chatty. But don’t worry, I have learned better time management!

What I have learned as an NP for the last 10 years is that showing your own personality and sometimes vulnerability can be all the difference in how a patient opens up! We are all human. There is no emotional hierarchy in our office.
