Ever noticed how bottle ni***es come in various sizes? As the sizes go up from newborn to level 1, 2, etc….the milk is able to flow more quickly out of the ni**le.

This is NOT necessary.

***Your ni***es don’t get larger holes for the milk to exit your breasts over time (ouch!). Your bottle ni***es don’t need to change either. ***

Babies don’t need to have higher stage ni***es as they get older. That just increases the chance they will get frustrated when they have to work harder at the breast to get milk than at the bottle. Cross more bottle ni***es off your registry and stick to the newborn ni***es.

Of course there are times when suck dysfunction or other medical issues including prematurity cause physicians to recommend different ni**le stages or types - a social media post can’t replace individual medical advice.

Breasts come in many different sizes - so do ni***es! Just like a personalized bra fitting can do wonders for comfort, so can a ! As it turns out, so can a professional pump fitting session.

Pump fl**ges come in MANY different sizes to accommodate the wide variety of ni**le sizes in lactating parents.

Making sure your pump fl**ge fits properly is an incredibly basic, seemingly obvious, yet often overlooked step in using a breast pump. It isn’t as simple as measuring your ni**le with a ruler.

So make sure you seek out an evaluation by a trained professional ASAP if you aren’t sure you have the proper pump fit.

Reach out to me at if you live anywhere in Indiana and need to book a breast pump fitting session. http://lindsaymooremd.com/

The painful, firm swelling you keep. noticing in your breasts is NOT a 'plugged duct'. This means all the old advice based on shoving or sucking a clog out of the pipes is wrong.

You actually have inflammation and swelling AROUND the ducts, NOT INSIDE them. This squishes the tiny milk ducts, keeping the milk from getting through.

All the old advice for ā€˜plugged ductsā€˜ actually worsens the swelling and inflammation.

You need to decrease the inflammation and swelling in the delicate breast tissue around the ducts, not do anything to the ducts themselves. This way you can take the pressure off the ducts, allowing milk to flow again. This means ice, gentle lymphatic drainage.

Follow the QR code to see Dr. Moore teach you how to easily start doing lymphatic drainage to feel better.

LIAR

This is how I treat squished milk tubes (formerly and incorrectly known as plugged ducts).

Why LIAR?
Because this information corrects all the incorrect info you've seen in sooooo many other places. We are getting rid of lies and outdated information!

Squished milk tubes that won't let milk flow out of the breast occur due to inflammation and swelling in the breast tissue around the milk ducts. So we need to decrease the inflammation and swelling. How? THAT is where LIAR comes in.

L - Lymphatic Drainage
I - Ice
A - Anti pain meds like ibuprofen or acetaminophen to help discomfort while treating the swelling (ask your doctor first)
R - Relative Rest for the Breast (feed or pump gently as usual. No extra pumping)

If pumping is taking too long, that is a sign you may need help with lactation.

Why does this happen? LOTS of possibilities:
Ni**le damage or pain, low milk production, improper fl**ge fit or pump settings, underlying inflammation and swelling of the breast and ni**le, faulty pump parts, etc. The list goes on.

It can be a lot to trouble shoot on your own, so a skilled Breastfeeding Medicine physician is never the wrong next step.
