HIIT might still be a popular trend, but with a renewed focus on wellness in the industry, a growing number of health clubs are balancing that high-intensity programming with programming related to recovery.

A study conducted by the France-based National Institute of Sport, Expertise and Performance focused mainly on sports injuries and found that whole body cryotherapy reduced inflammation and aches, and aided in faster muscle injury recovery.

Hyperbaric chambers were once the province of bends-suffering deep-sea divers and cryotherapy was mainly used by celebrities and the rich. Now regular fitness buffs are turning to those and other high-priced treatments like IV drips to prevent or recover from injury.
