Happy National Rural Health Day 2025! 🎉
Today we join NOSORH and partners nationwide in celebrating the people, providers, and communities that showcase the Power of Rural. Rural Indiana is filled with resilience, innovation, and a deep commitment to improving health and well-being, and we are grateful for everyone who supports this important work.

ASPIN is proud to advance rural health through education, workforce development, and community partnerships. ASPIN has been awarded $1,200,000 over three years through HRSA’s Rural Communities Opioid Response Program (RCORP) Pathways initiative. This funding will support a new behavioral health career pathway for rural youth in Kosciusko, Montgomery, and Owen counties.

Through this project, ASPIN and our partners will engage high school students in peer driven behavioral health programming, introduce them to behavioral health careers including the Certified Community Health Worker (CCHW) pathway, and bring Teen Mental Health First Aid to rural schools. At least 20 rural youth will earn their CCHW certification, preparing them to step into critical roles within Indiana’s behavioral health workforce. This initiative would not be possible without the collaboration of Bowen Health, Centerstone of Indiana, and West Central Indiana Area Health Education Center, along with local schools and community partners who support rural youth.

On National Rural Health Day, we celebrate rural communities and recommit to strengthening them through collaboration, education, and opportunity! 😊🎉

🌟 ASPIN at the 2025 Indiana Health Equity Symposium 🌟
ASPIN’s Bilingual Program Coordinator, Keny Chapman, attended the 2025 Indiana Health Equity Symposium, “Unwavering Spirit: Collective Action for Community Health.”
Highlights included powerful keynotes from Dr. Michael Twyman and Tamara Winfrey Harris, and impactful sessions like Holistic Healing, Built Environment, and Eskenazi Health’s Engagement Zones, showing how community-led and systemic approaches together drive real health equity.

Our biggest takeaway: True progress in health equity comes from collective action and shared commitment.
We’re grateful to the organizers, speakers, and fellow attendees for an energizing and insightful day, and we look forward to bringing these learnings back to our work at ASPIN. 💙
