Differently-abled, special needs, uniquely gifted, all are terms that make the speaker comfortable and the disabled discounted. We do exist. Sometimes it seems like that fact is the problem. Our existence. So, you euthanize language to make our 'affliction' disappear. Well, it's not an affliction and it's not a source of shame. It's an identity, a rallying call, a uniting force. The disability community only exists if the word exists.
