As a therapist I see my role as one of a guide helping people discover and learn to use the innate abilities they possess to heal their own lives. My work is born out of a heartfelt compassion for those who grapple with anxiety, depression, fear, abuse, codependency or hopelessness. I work with many issues, challenges, and conditions, including self-criticism/perfectionism, relationship issues, an
xiety, depression, trauma, and grief. It can be hard to reach out and ask for help, because the idea of change can be scary, so please know that your courage in looking for support is recognized and deeply respected. When we find ourselves wrestling with the same problem(s) over and over again we can become very discouraged. Shopping or eating to comfort ourselves, being drawn to relationships that are/feel unhealthy, struggling internally with shame, perfectionism or self-criticism, feeling depressed or anxious, or being unable to let go of anger or fear for reasons that elude us can make us feel like our lives will never change. If you have attempted to resolve a problem or a way of thinking and have been unsuccessful, counseling can teach you how to use both the skills you were born with but have yet to utilize, and those you may need to learn in order to change your life. So I invite you to consider what you could stand to gain by giving counseling a chance... You may have been to counseling before and it didn't work.
