At Children's TherAplay, licensed therapists provide children with disabilities physical, occupational, and speech therapy which uses the movement of a horse as a tool to accelerate physical, emotional, and behavioral development. For over 20 years, TherAplay has been treating kids 18 months to 13 years with a variety of diagnosis and developmental delays and we have grown to become the largest fa

cility specializing in hippotherapy in the country. The horse can provide a therapeutic input that cannot be replicated in any other type of therapy. These inputs have allowed our clients to see transformational outcomes, such as children with mobility limitations taking first steps, non-verbal children saying their first words, children learning to feed themselves independently, and dress and care for themselves more independently.

⭐Volunteer Spotlight⭐

Meet Ashley:
Ashley works from home as a Business Intelligence Consultant, but in her downtime, she loves to shine on the stage! She is currently rehearsing for a show called Kiss Me Kate that opens in May. When she's not watching or participating in onstage productions, she enjoys knitting. She even makes some of her own clothes!
Ashley started volunteering at TherAplay in September 2023. She was looking for a volunteer opportunity that was close to home, and was ecstatic when she found out that here we have kiddos AND horses.
Ashley is now a Primary Sidewalker for TherAplay, and loves that she can help kids while getting some exercise in – And petting the horses, of course! Ashley finds her role here very rewarding and loves seeing the kiddos progress from week to week.

⭐Volunteer Spotlight⭐

Meet Kristen:
After living in Florida for several years, Kristen recently returned to Indiana to get married and live happily ever after! Her career has been in fundraising for non-profits which she hopes to return to. In her free time, Kristen enjoys spending time with family, playing golf in a local lady’s league, and horseback riding lessons from her mother-in-law.
Some might be surprised to know that it is only recently that she’s let her inner farm girl out!
Kristen first learned of TherAplay after attending the 2025 Hoe-Down with her best friend. She was instantly hooked when she heard the testimonials of the families who benefit from all that TherAplay can do.
Currently, Kristen volunteers as a primary side walker weekly, assists with special events and provides barn support as needed. Seeing the children’s progress, confidence, and joy keeps her coming back. Knowing that she’s part of something that positively impacts their lives is incredibly rewarding to her.

Our first Power Hour raised over $8,500 unlocking a $5,000 match from Randy and Kathy Clark and bringing our total to over $13,500 🤩 All funds raised during this time go back to our Scholarship Fund, which offers crticial financial assistance to TherAplay families.

Kipper is a 20-year-old Welsh pony who has served as a therapy horse for more than 6 years at Children’s TherAplay.
🤪 His silly personality includes loving attention, playing with zippers, and being the sweetest pony you ever did meet!
🥰 His sweetness extends to his pasture mates; he finds buddies quickly and easily and would make the perfect playmate for a horse needing some company.
📝 Kipper has cushings and a history of founder and choke, which is managed with daily meds and soaked hay and grain. Front shoes help him stay comfortable, and he will do best in a dry lot turnout.
💜After his many years of service to the kiddos in our community, Kipper has more than earned a comfy retirement!

The Children’s TherAplay Foundation is one of the few clinics in the country dedicated to providing physical and occupational therapies on horseback for children with special needs.
