VCA Sacramento Animal Medical Group

VCA Sacramento Animal Medical Group We see appointments between 7 AM - 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday. There are dedicated clinical suites for dentistry and radiology/ultrasound.

Surgical and specialist services are available on a limited appointment basis; please call for further information. Founded in 1977, our 8500 square foot facility provides general medicine, emergency, and specialty services. The hospital contains two fully equipped surgical suites, post-operative monitoring and intensive care/recovery units, quarantine facilities, and comfortable kennel facilities for hospitalized patients and medical boarders. Our hospital employs 4 full-time veterinarians, as well as radiology and cardiology consultations available on a scheduled call-in basis for our existing patients. We primarily offer care for dogs and cats. Please make sure to call ahead to discuss your pet's medical needs and confirm our ability to address them. If we are not able to see your species of pet, we will refer you to a clinic that can. We take pride in our highly trained medical staff, including multiple registered veterinary technicians (RVTs). We are also proud to say that all of our veterinary assistants have undergone extensive formal schooling in addition to their on-the-job training.

🎃 Halloween Pet Safety Tips đŸŸ

Halloween can be spooky fun for humans, but it can be stressful—or even dangerous—for our furry friends. Here are a few tips to keep your pets safe and happy:

Keep Candy Out of Reach 🍬
Chocolate, xylitol (found in sugar-free gum), and other treats can be toxic to pets. Make sure all candy is stored securely.

Watch the Door đŸšȘ
With trick-or-treaters coming and going, pets can slip out unnoticed. Keep them in a quiet room away from the front door, or use a baby gate for extra security.

Costumes Are Optional đŸ‘»
If your pet doesn’t enjoy dressing up, don’t force it. If they do wear a costume, make sure it’s comfortable, doesn’t restrict movement, and has no small parts they could chew off.

Decorate with Care đŸ•Żïž
Curious pets can knock over candles or chew on electrical cords. Use flameless candles and keep decorations out of reach.

ID is a Must đŸ·ïž
Make sure your pet is wearing a collar with up-to-date ID tags, just in case they do get out.

Let’s make Halloween safe and fun for everyone—including our four-legged family members! đŸ¶đŸ±đŸ’œ

Love Is Blind season 8 meets Dog Day Out... and we're ready to say, "I do!"

Thanks to VCA Charities' amazing partners at Minneapolis Animal Care & Control, in collaboration with their Dog Day Out initiative, we are grateful for the success of the Fido Field Trip Program! Back in the Spring, the shelter dogs got their own “Love is Blind” adventure when the fabulous ladies of Season 8 joined the fun, taking some shelter pups out for unforgettable field trips filled with smiles.

Did you know that research shows that dogs who experience a single day outside the shelter are 10x more likely to be adopted?! These outings give shelter dogs a break from the kennel, which reduces stress while increasing community volunteerism.
