Carmichaels Area Historical Society, Inc. The Carmichaels Area Historical Society, Inc., a 501(c)(3) organization, is located in the Greene Academy. Our mailing address is P.O. Box 309, Carmichaels, Pa.

The Carmichaels Area Historical Society, Inc., was formed to ensure the preservation of area historical documents, photographs, and family histories, as well as historic properties in Carmichaels and Cumberland Township. We are dedicated to scanning, digitizing and saving regional and local historical items such as vintage school pictures, military documents and photos, sports team photos and memo

rabilia, and everything in between in Carmichaels and the towns of Cumberland Township. Please consider becoming a member of the Historical Society. You can find the Invitation-Membership Application Form in the Membership Album. You will need to save the form and print it. Mail the form to the address on the bottom of the form. The Historical Society sponsored a coloring contest for first graders. One winner was selected from each first grade class and presented with a Dairy Queen gift card. All students received a keychain for their participation. We would like to thank the first graders as well as the teachers (Mrs. Robinson, Ms. Kifer, Mrs. Blaker, and Mr. Donaldson) for participating in the contest.

We had a small group today. Kim, Carole and Helen. Bridget Hathaway dropped off more donations.

What you see spread out on the table are many documents (mainly receipts) that were inside two safety deposit boxes donated by Bridget Hathaway. Most of the envelopes had deposit receipts for as little as 25 cents (which was a big deal back in the early 1900s). Seems Blind Billy Crago did not throw away anything.

We have been organizing a bunch of early 1900 documents donated by Bridget Hathaway. This letter was written to Blind Billy Crago and we thought it was cute to share. Can you imagine sending a puppy in a light box or strawberry box in this day and age?
