Well we had another market catastrophe today. We were at the last 5th St Market for the season in downtown CDA. Everything was going great. Sun was shining, customers were shopping. It was lovely.
When out of nowhere a thunderstorm hit. Thunder and lightning over our head, heavy rain coming down. It was intense, things got soaked, but it passed relatively quickly. Some vendors were packing up to leave and we thought we’d stay since it seemed the worst had passed.
Boy were we wrong. Wind! 💨 massively strong gusts of wind came. It hit so strong and so fast it was all we could do to save what we could. The tent top was coming off, the shelves were getting knocked down product began flying everywhere.
People came to our rescue as fast as they could after securing their own tents.
We packed things as fast as we could. It didn’t matter where it went, it just had to get into something.
We saved most of it, thankfully. Not everyone has glass products that were breaking. I am so extremely grateful for all the people who came to my aid.
There was one young lady in particular that stayed til we were all finished and packed up in the car. I asked her which booth she had and she said she didn’t have one and that she had just arrived to do some shopping. She saw the storm hit, told her dog to stay in the car, and ran to help. I asked her name and she said, “Julia”. 🥺
Julia sent me an angel to come and help from the other side. 🙏🏻😇
I hugged her and thanked her and sent her home with some product. It was the least I could do. I was so grateful for everyone who helped me. There are good people in this world 😊
Picture was before the storm happened.
