This has got to be made illegal before it’s too late. Via Louie's Family Pharmacy:

This is an actual claim we had this week. Note the cost is $95.54 and the total paid is $153.46 so we should have made a hefty profit. Not so fast! Look at the part in red/pink. That part represents the PBM taking back $125.75 from the claim for themselves, leaving Louie's Family Pharmacy with an overall loss of $67.83. Just please know that we never want to send patients away but in this case we had no choice.

It's time to raise your voice so that it can be heard in Congress. Drug middleman are making huge profits in terms of billions of dollars and they are making difficult for independent pharmacies to survive that's why so many independent pharmacies are going out of business. It is utmost important to do PBM reforms now.

Just a few months ago, every respected economist viewed the US economy as the best performing in the Western world. Global inflation, fueled by the Ukraine war and post-COVID-19 reopening, was under control and declining, millions of jobs were added, the stock market reached record-breaking highs, and OPEC's influence was diminished, leading to lower energy prices. In retrospect, this period evokes a sense of nostalgia. Unfortunately, the current situation is detrimental to citizens worldwide, as they ultimately bear the burden of tariffs. The delusional nature of this situation is astounding. In the coming months, shortages of essential goods, including pharmaceuticals and medicines, are anticipated, as approximately 90% of medicines are imported from overseas. China's imposition of a 34% tariff on all US imports marks a significant escalation in trade tensions, with far-reaching implications for global markets, American exporters, and consumer prices. The timing and scale of this move suggest a strong political message, potentially aimed at retaliation or leveraging ahead of key negotiations. This bold step may trigger further economic repercussions. The impact on US farmers will be substantial, as China will likely source corn and soybeans from Brazil and other countries. The market share of US farmers may never be recovered. Commodity prices will plummet, forcing farmers to incur higher input costs that may exceed their worth. 🥲

It is imperative that individuals speak out and take a stand. The public deserves to know why numerous pharmacies are being closed, resulting in significant difficulties in locating a pharmacy within their area. Many pharmacies are opting not to carry brand-name medications due to the excessively high cost of these medications, coupled with the low reimbursement rates provided by insurance companies, which are often nearly negligible, resulting in financial losses for pharmacies.

Caro Drugs is not currently accepting new patients from VG's Pharmacy, as we have reached maximum capacity. In fact, we have exceeded our limit, having accepted over 200 clients from VG's Pharmacy within a short span of a month. This influx was largely due to the closure of two pharmacy chains, Rite Aid and VG's, which led to an increased demand for our services. At the time, our competitor was not accepting new patients, further contributing to the surge. We are diligently working to accommodate the needs of our community, but the challenges posed by inflation and rising drug prices are making it increasingly difficult for us to adjust to the growing demand. Thank you for your understanding.
