Every five years, the North Carolina Council on Developmental Disabilities (NCCDD) creates a Five-Year State Plan. This plan helps guide its work and decide which projects to fund to improve services and supports for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) in North Carolina.

To make the state plan, NCCDD looks closely at what people with I/DD in North Carolina need by asking for input to better understand what matters to them, their families and their local communities. We gather input in two ways: through an online survey and through in-person and virtual listening sessions. Then, the Council puts together a plan that includes clear goals, steps to reach those goals, and actions to create positive change to promote self-determination, integration, productivity, inclusion and independence.

You can be part of helping NCCDD define its goals for the next five years by visiting NCCDD – Five-Year State Plan and providing input!

The North Carolina Council on Developmental Disabilities works with others across the State to make sure people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) and their families have access to community services, individualized supports, and other forms of assistance.
