This move was where my #handstand journey and #questforthepress began, around 2012 or so. The round of the upper back and the shoulder structure shown here this morning, thousands of handstands later, has recently reached a near status of #musclememory at this point.

You see the power structure of the back here, as well as the obvious openness in the hips and mobility in the low back, but the power of holding the hip flex in the front (aka flipping over into backbend power prevention 😂) is the initial float power. Lifting into wide-legged handstand is like a wide-legged #navasana over high push-up arms.

Sending the legs up into full #adhomukhavrksasana uses the stability of the arms 💪🏼 and hip flex control as well as the strength of the legs - outer and inner, to bring them together. Have patience...grace comes through dedicated #practice With #devotional Intention🙏🏼

It’s a #wildride from #urdhvadhanurasana to #adhomukhavrksasana (backbend to #handstand )...to get there, you’ve gotta have a huge backbend with equal openness in the shoulders/chest and hip flexors, solid back control and a very comfortable handstand.
Start in backbend and look between your hands as if lifting into a handstand with the front of your body. Instead, think of it as a backwards lift. Catch height with your feet enough to get your hip flex engaged and pull the legs up and over with good #bandha engagement.
Good warm ups include forearm backbend to forearm balance or bound hands backbend to headstand. Open hip flexors required!!

Close to the end of Series 3, fatigue is no issue...it's all muscle memory and energy work at this point. It's all about the draw in and up through the abdomen and connecting the lift to the press of the arms and chest, supported by the stabilization of the spine with the back, obliques and transverse abdominus. Helps to have #openhips too!
