Melva was born on May 29, 1940, in Washta, Iowa, the daughter of Leroy and Ona (Godwin) Harrison. Melva graduated from Quimby High School and shortly after, on August 14, 1958, she was united in marriage to Virgil Dickman at the Lutheran Church in Quimby. The couple made their home in several communities before settling in C**n Rapids in 1975, where they raised their family together.

Melva found joy in the simple and meaningful moments of life. She loved playing cards and games with her friends and family, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and going on Sunday drives. She enjoyed music and played the organ for the Lutheran church in Quimby when she was in high school. She carried this love of organ playing into her family life as well. She enjoyed dancing with her husband, and they were very good at it! Melva liked to spend time crafting and attending craft fairs with her sister. Melva also loved traveling with her husband and family. In her retired years, Melva could often be found helping at the Bargain Shoppe, where she enjoyed organizing inventory and sharing cookies and laughter with friends or spending time with her friends from church attending little sales and having Sunday brunch.

She is survived by her children: Peggy Bagwell of Lamar, Colorado; Stanley Dickman of Stockton, Georgia; Gary Dickman (Tammy) of Indianola; and Sharlene Gingery of Carroll; daughter-in-law Lisa Dickman of C**n Rapids; along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and dear friends. She is also survived by her sister, Lorraine Adams of Le Mars; and sister-in-law, Cheryl Harrison of Correctionville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ona and Leroy Harrison; her husband, Virgil Dickman; her son, Kendall Dickman; her brothers Leon (Cheryl) Harrison and Lorn Harrison, her sister Francis (Earl) Schwaller; her grandsons, Justin and Jonathan Dickman; and her great-granddaughter, Bailey Werle.

Melva will be remembered for her love for her family, her silly antics and the fun she brought to a room, and the joy she found in time spent with those she loved.

Ursula Elsa Turner

Ursula Elsa Louisa Eggert Turner, 90, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2026 in Ankeny, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 14, 2026 at Dahn Woodhouse Funeral Home, 307 Idaho Street, Glidden, Iowa.

The family will greet guests from 12:30 p.m. – 1:15 p.m., prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Glidden Cemetery, following the service.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com

In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested for Suncrest Hospice or Peace Lutheran Church Quilters.

Ursula was born on June 11, 1935 in Berlin, Germany to Willi and Hildegard Eggert. Ursula grew up in Berlin and worked as a professional seamstress, a talent she continued to share her entire life, frequently gifting cherished quilting projects and other items to friends and family.

Ursula met the love of her life, Douglas Turner while he was serving with the United States Army, stationed in Berlin, Germany. They began dating and continued throughout Douglas’s tour in Germany. They became engaged shortly before his tour ended. After Douglas’s discharge from the Army, he worked and saved enough money to bring Ursula to the United States to be with him. Ursula arrived from Germany by ship in 1958 and Douglas and his parents drove to Ellis Island New York to pick her up and bring her to her new home. They were married soon after her arrival in June of 1958 in Glidden, Iowa where they made their home and raised their two children. Ursula lived in Glidden until March of 2025 at which time she moved to Ankeny, Iowa to be closer to her family.

Ursula enjoyed being a member of the Peace Lutheran Church Quilters Club in Glidden and rarely missed a quilters club luncheon. Every year she would proudly report to her family the total number of quilts the club completed and gifted to local charities.

Ursula was also a talented cook and baker. Her famous Christmas sugar cookies with almond flavored icing were stockpiled, sneakily hidden in secret places, and fought over by family members, bringing a quiet grin to Grandma’s face. There was never enough of those cookies no matter how many dozen she made!

Ursula kept physically active until she was 89, frequently walking around Glidden and her neighbors would frequently see her out for her walks around town.

Ursula’s most favorite pastime was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was frequently invited to join in on family vacation travels with both her children and their families. If you visited with Ursula for longer than five minutes you were guaranteed to have to endure hearing the latest stories or view the latest pictures of her family that she would proudly pull out of her purse or off the wall of her house.

Ursula never wanted to be the center of attention but enjoyed visiting with her friends and family. She had an infectious laugh and a distinctive warm German accent, which she could not hear in her own voice – frequently asking family members, “do I really have an accent?” Ursula always looked on the bright side of life. Ursula was fiercely independent, but always appreciative of anything anyone did for her as well. She was a kind and caring person who always asked about people and delighted in visits and calls from everyone she knew. On phone calls you were always greeted with the same question in a very cheerful German accent, “Any news?”

Ursula is survived by her children, Kurt (Shari) Turner of Ankeny, Iowa and Denise (Dean) Smith of Des Moines, Iowa; grandchildren, Whitney (Dave) Kolbe of Ankeny, Iowa, and A.J. (Baylie) Turner of Ogden, Utah; and great-grandchildren, Chase and Charlie Kolbe and Chloe Goucher-Turner. Ursula is also survived by her sister-in-law, Sherry (Larry) Gartin of Ankeny Iowa, nieces, nephews and many close family friends.

Ursula was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Douglas Turner, her parents and an infant sister.

Timothy Owen Lee was born December 15, 1964, in London, England, to Harold and Antonia “Tosh” Lee. Although the family lived in Boston at the time, Tim’s birth coincided with his father’s work trip abroad. In 1971, the family moved permanently to London, where Tim attended the American School in London. He spent many formative summers in C**n Rapids, where his grandfather, Roswell Garst, had co-founded the Garst & Thomas Hybrid Seed Company.

Tim attended Curry College in Milton, Massachusetts, earning a Bachelor of Arts in History and Politics with a minor in English Language and Literature. It was there he developed a lifelong passion for 16th-century poetry and the works of Shakespeare.

As an adult, Tim returned to his roots in C**n Rapids to build upon his family’s legacy. Over the next three decades, he immersed himself in business and agriculture, serving as Chairman of the Board of Iowa State Bank in Sac City and managing a large farming operation in Carroll County from 1991 to 2022. In the late 1990s, he teamed up with Al and Barry Heiderscheit to launch TAB Concrete, tackling residential, agricultural, and commercial projects for over a decade.

Tim celebrated a personal milestone in 2021 when he married Paige Huntley. He built a home south of C**n Rapids inspired by Tim’s interest in Etruscan architecture and the couple made their home there. The couple shared a deep commitment to local education; while Tim served as school board president, Paige served as the CRB district’s School Business Officer, frequently sitting side-by-side at board meetings.

An avid student of world, political, and U.S. Civil War history, Tim also collected rare sports cars, antique fi****ms, and Roman Etruscan glass art. He was a dedicated pool player, competing in leagues for over 30 years, and enjoyed bowling and golf in his earlier years.

Tim’s leadership extended to numerous organizations, including the Swan Lake Foundation, the Roswell and Elizabeth Garst Foundation, the C**n Rapids Golf Association Board, the C**n Rapids-Bayard Board of Education, and the CRB Education Foundation. He was a life member of Pheasants Forever and the National Rifle Association, and a member of the Iowa Bankers Association.

Tim’s philanthropy left a lasting mark on the community. His generosity supported Whiterock Conservancy—where he funded the restoration of the Garst Ponds—the C**n Rapids Golf Course, Swan Lake State Park, and the Riverside Park Trail resurfacing. He was a cornerstone of the CRB Educational Foundation and a champion of the Main Street C**n Rapids initiative, restoring downtown buildings that now house local staples like the New Hope Bargain Shop, the Post Office, and the Raccoon River Social Club. Lee also partnered with Bryan Spangler on the purchase and subsequent renovation of the Northside Rec building, working hand-in-hand with the Main Street C**n Rapids organization to reopen the historic Northside Rec business.

The C**n Rapids area has benefited immeasurably from Tim’s enthusiasm and leadership; his presence in the community will be impossible to replace.

Survivors include his wife, Paige (Huntley); his sons, Zachary B. (Hanna) Lee of Lake View and Nathan Lee of Ankeny; his sister, Amy Lee of London, England; and many cousins and friends.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Tosh Lee, and his grandparents, Roswell and Elizabeth Garst, and Hugh and Amy Lee.

Camping and fishing were two of Judy's hobbies and you could find her at a campground every weekend. In addition to camping and fishing, Jude LOVED to cook and made a real mean carrot cake.

In 2019, they drove the motorhome south for the winter to Apache Junction, Arizona. After spending the winter there, they purchased a home for the winter months. In 2021, the decision was made to sell the motorhome. After traveling back to Iowa in the spring, they decided to sell the motorhome and purchase a mobile home at Lake View. Jude loved being by water and had camped at Lake View for years. Judy was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis and pulmonary hypertension in 2023.

Survivors include her spouse, Deanne Simons of Lake View, other extended family members, and countless good friends.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents Ray and Millie Broich; her grandparents Tony and Bertha Broich and Leo and Madeline Gubbels; and many aunts and uncles.
