😎 What does a Speech-Language Pathologist at Speech Pathways do?!

🍕🍓Provide endoscopic swallowing tests to determine the cause of swallowing difficulties
🔤Teach kiddos how to produce speech sounds correctly in a functional and FUN way
🍼 Help infants improve breast and bottle feeding skills

📱Help kids and adults with use of communication devices to improve expressive language skills

👏Speech Pathways collaborated with another local SLP to create communication boards for the Carroll Children's Museum!

🤷‍♀️🤷What is a communication board and how are they used?!
🟣A communication board is an alternative form of communication that helps children express wants, needs, and ideas using pictures, symbols, or words.
🟢You can model how to use them by pointing to symbols as you talk and play (e.g., “play,” "go!", “more,” “help,” “all done”) and even use it to expand phrases (e.g. "go-up", "I-want-snack", "more-play").
🔵Encourage children to point to or touch pictures to communicate, and be sure to respond to them to reinforce their message.
🟠Keep it fun and natural! Communication boards are there to support all kids in participating, interacting, and enjoying the experience 🙂

👀Check out the Children's Museum to see all the fun, new exhibits and while you're there scope out the communication boards hung around the stations.
📱Need a portable communication board for your kiddo to carry and communicate while they explore the Museum?! They have those too!!
