St. Anthony Nursing Home Ends Summer the FAIR Way! 🎡🌽🎟️

Last week, residents of St. Anthony Nursing Home celebrated the end of summer with their very own version of the Iowa State Fair! The event was packed with fun and nostalgia, featuring live animals, classic fair games, prizes, food, and plenty of family fun.

It was a heartwarming day filled with joy and cherished memories for residents, staff, and loved ones. A big thank you to everyone who helped bring the fairgrounds spirit to life right here at home!

🍋💛 Sweet hearts, sweeter cause!

A BIG thank you to Maverick, Maddox, and Mila for their SWEET surprise! On a hot summer day, these three set up a lemonade stand with the help of their amazing sitter, Melea, and raised $220 to buy toys for kids visiting St. Anthony’s ER, surgery center, and inpatient areas.

From stuffies and games to cards and other goodies, their gifts will help brighten the days and speed the recoveries of our youngest patients. 💕

As part of his 99 County Tour, Senator Chuck Grassley visited St. Anthony Regional Hospital last week to meet with our health care team and community members. Following a brief tour, we hosted a Q&A session where we discussed and advocated for key rural health topics such as access to care, behavioral health, Medicare & Medicaid, the 340B program, cancer care, and more.

We appreciate the opportunity to share our perspective and highlight both the opportunities and challenges in rural health care!

Through the St. Anthony Recognition (StAR) program, a family member of a patient recognized Terri Kramer for her extraordinary care!

Terri's nomination read: “When Terri first came to spend time with my son, I felt like I could hand over to her some of my worries and fears. Not knowing what to expect in the months to come became easier with Terri’s help. My son benefited and talked about 'my friend.' I appreciated all of Terri’s personal touches of pie and cookies. It gave me comfort to know she was there when I couldn’t be. I’m glad she could give the teasing back to him. Her picture of him was a wonderful gift and one I will treasure. I keep it on the kitchen table where he is smiling at me. I was so glad Terri was there on his last day. She gave me strength and comfort and made his journey easier for both of us!”

🍦 Sundaes, Sacraments & Support!

Last week, St. John Paul II Parish hosted their Vacation Bible School: Adventure through the Sacraments. During the week, kids took on a big challenge! They raised $690.16 for St. Anthony’s Shelves of Grace program, a hospital-based initiative that helps patients and families with food, hygiene items, and transportation.

It was a close race, but the girls just edged out the boys and earned the reward of turning the adults into ice cream sundaes! 🍨
