Depression. Grief. Anxiety.
For many Christians, these words can feel heavy. Sometimes even taboo. We wonder if feeling them means we donāt have enough faith. But the truth is, Scripture is filled with people who felt deep sorrow and anguish.
David wrote psalms that sounded like cries in the dark. Elijah grew so weary he prayed to end his life. Even Jesus, in the garden of Gethsemane, wept and felt troubled in His soul.
Their stories remind us that to feel deeply human emotions is not a sign of weak faith. It is a sign that we are human.
šæ Through a biblical lens, we are invited to bring these burdens to God. To cast our cares on Him, to fast, to pray, to declare His truth over our lives, and to rest in His presence when our souls grow weary.
šæ Through a scientific lens, we also understand that depression, grief, and anxiety are not only āspiritual problems.ā They can be the bodyās way of signaling distress (imbalances in hormones, heightened stress responses, or the natural grieving process.) God, in His wisdom, gave us minds capable of learning how our bodies work. Science helps us see the gift of therapy, counseling, rest, medication when needed, and the rhythms that allow our bodies to heal.
Faith and science are not enemies.
God is the Author of both.
God works through miracles and medicine.
Through prayer and therapy.
Through His Spirit and the support systems He places around us.
If you are carrying depression, grief, or anxiety, please know this you are not weak and you are not less of a Christian. You are deeply loved. God cares for both your soul and your body, and He invites you to walk in healing with Him, step by step. šæš
