Some medications, like high-dose aspirin, certain antibiotics, diuretics, and chemotherapy drugs are ototoxic. These means they can harm your ears and carry a risk of hearing loss or tinnitus.

In some cases, the benefits of these drugs often outweigh the hearing risks, especially for life-saving treatments. However, it's always important to discuss potential side effects and protective strategies with your physician to balance the pros and cons and protect your hearing as much as possible.

Hearing aid feedback occurs when sound from the device's speaker is picked up by the microphone, creating a loud whistling or buzzing noise.

While modern hearing aids rarely experience feedback, it can happen occasionally. Most issues can be resolved with a quick at-home adjustment or by visiting a local hearing professional.

Some types of hearing loss can be temporary, especially if caused by infections or blockages, but most cases—like age-related or noise-induced hearing loss—are permanent. For many, hearing aids are the most effective treatment.

In cases of sudden hearing loss, prompt treatment with steroids may help restore some hearing, so acting quickly is essential.

If you're experiencing hearing issues, find a specialist in your area and schedule a hearing test as soon as possible!

While hearing aids make conversations more audible, there are simple things that communication partners can do to foster the best possible listening environment. Share this post to help them understand. 🫂

-Face each other and position yourselves so that there is as little sound as possible coming from behind the person with hearing loss.

-Try to speak in a well-lit area so that facial expressions and body language can be easily seen.

-Slow your speech and enunciate more. Louder does not always mean clearer.

-Utilize Edge Mode+ and accessories to help give hearing aids an extra boost in challenging listening environments.
