$412.9 Billion Spent on Diabetes in 2022 (this does not include prevention)
How does this even happen? On a federal level, when the legislature meets for a fiscal conversation around budgets, trend data is used thoroughly. They take the past three years' average spending and increase taking into account the number of new citizens and the progressive trend data of the subject matter they have. Usually, committees meet and discuss recommendations to present to the body of government in a bill or order.
So, let's look at the math they did...
Total Spending on Diabetes in 2022: $412.9 B (7% increase)
Total Projected Spending in 2023: $440.99B (7% increase)
Total Project Spending in 2024: $493.91B (12% increase)
Total Population May 6, 2022: 333,024,748
Total Population May 6, 2023: 334,636,326 (4.8% increase)
Total Population Today in US: 336,388,469 (5% increase)
Based on previous annual population data, we won't see a 12% increase in population this year, so what does this tell us?
Diabetes is on the rise. And it's time we start educating ourselves and doing something about it.
but education comes first!
