The holidays are just around the corner and while food often takes center stage around this time of year, you don't have to stray from good health. Here's a few tips on how to have a thinner dinner.

1. Start with Veggie-Loaded Starters
Begin with a fresh, vibrant salad or a veggie-based soup (like butternut squash or pumpkin) to fill up on fiber-rich, lower-calorie options before the main course. Adding leafy greens, roasted veggies, or a broth-based soup can help curb your appetite while delivering essential nutrients.

2. Choose Lighter Sides
Opt for healthier versions of traditional sides: try mashed cauliflower instead of mashed potatoes, roasted sweet potatoes instead of a marshmallow-topped casserole, and a wild rice or quinoa pilaf instead of stuffing. These alternatives offer great flavor with fewer calories and more fiber.

3. Go Easy on the Butter and Cream
Use olive oil or avocado oil instead of butter where possible, and consider substituting Greek yogurt for cream in recipes like mashed potatoes or dips. These swaps reduce saturated fat and calories without compromising on taste.

4. Portion Control and Mindful Eating
