So I’ve listened to the “Mother’s Day is for those in the trenches” videos and here are my thoughts. DO NOT get sucked into another attempt to create division ladies! Invalidating someone’s else’s struggle & deciding how to tell others how to experience a holiday is no way to validate your own feelings. Video after video I listened to why these type of moms deserve recognition versus the other. One this is abundantly clear…there are A LOT of women who need to be seen, heard and appreciated not just tomorrow but every single day. To the women mothering in infancy & toddlerhood I see you. To the mamas navigating adolescence praying for patience & guidance I see you. The mamas who have spent years in fertility clinics and crying behind closed doors I see you. To the mamas whose babies are no longer babies but wonderful adults who can’t make it home for the holidays I see you. To the mamas/birth mamas bonus mamas/mamas coparenting the best they can I see you. To the single mamas working miracles everyday to make it happen I see you. To the women who have stood in the gap to be a mama but never had anyone call you mama I see you. To the women honoring their mama at the cemetery tomorrow I see you. Let’s all agree on this truth motherhood no matter the stage or how you got here is as challenging as it is beautiful. We all need to be validated. It is my hope that tomorrow and every day you can you take a moment to show your gratitude for all the women who chose to mother you. From me to you I know it can be tough sometimes. But you are so very loved valued and have a hugely important purpose so give that woman you meet in the mirror some much needed love ❤️
