Conversations about future care don’t have to be overwhelming but they often are when they happen too late.

National Healthcare Decisions Day reminds us how important it is for patients and families to have clarity, understanding, and support.

At Willowbrook, we help guide these conversations with compassion, so families feel confident in the decisions ahead, not rushed into them.

If you’ve ever had questions about what these conversations look like, we’re here as a resource.

Happy Easter to all who celebrate from your Willowbrook Hospice family. We hope your day is full of cherished moments, and that you're surrounded by love, peace, and togetherness.

And for those holding loved ones close in their hearts today, we’re thinking of you.

🎶 In honor of Music Therapy Month, tell us... if your life had a soundtrack, what song would be on it?

Music has a way of holding memories, emotions, and moments that matter most.

We'd love to hear yours.💙🌿

Thank you to The Joy Senior Living of Loganville for partnering with us to host our recent Caring Conversations support group at their community.

Together, we created a space for individuals and families navigating aging, illness, and caregiving to connect, learn, and feel supported. The group was facilitated by our social worker, Mandy, with the support of our chaplain, Earl, and RN, Brittany, each helping to create a thoughtful and supportive environment for those in attendance.

Thank you to all who joined us. If you or someone you know could benefit from a space like this, we welcome you to join us at a future Caring Conversations events.

At Willowbrook, we believe some of life’s most meaningful moments are found in the compassion, connection, and presence people share with one another.

Today, in honor of Social Work Month, we’re excited to celebrate Amanda (Mandy) Wigington Ledford, LMSW, whose heart for hospice care and dedication to others is felt across every corner of our team.

Mandy has been part of Willowbrook since October 2025, serving patients and families across all territories. She holds both a Bachelor and Master of Social Work and has felt called to hospice care since her graduate school internship. “From the moment I started, I knew I had found something special,” she shared. “I grew to love hospice deeply—the work, the families, the quiet honor of being present in life’s most important moments—and I never looked back.”

One of the moments Mandy cherishes most comes from time spent with a widowed patient who deeply needed companionship. What began as simply sitting with her during visits turned into something more—side by side, stitching and talking, forming a quiet and meaningful connection that has stayed with her ever since.

Mandy’s presence, both with the patients she serves and the team she supports, reflects the very heart of hospice care.

Happy Social Work Month, Mandy! We are so grateful for the compassion, leadership, and heart you bring to this work. 💙

Meet Nicole, our Music Therapist 🎶

Nicole is a board-certified music therapist (MT-BC) and Licensed Professional Music Therapist with advanced training in neurologic music therapy. With a background in orchestral performance and specialized clinical training, she brings a deep understanding of how music can support patients emotionally, cognitively, and physically.

She was drawn to how music can serve as a foundational treatment across motor, speech, and cognitive domains for individuals with a variety of diagnoses.

While in school, Nicole intentionally sought out experiences across different patient populations, where she discovered a deep connection to this work and the patients and families she had the honor of serving.

“Music Therapy is so adaptable. I utilize the iso-principle to meet patients where they’re at for the day and adjust interventions to guide them toward the desired outcome. Being able to provide companionship, non-pharmaceutical pain management, music-assisted relaxation, and music enjoyment is one of the parts of my job that I love the most.”

One moment that has stayed with her was sitting bedside with a patient in their final moments, someone who had spent their life sharing music through travel and drumming circles.

At the family’s request, Nicole returned to share music one last time.
In that moment, the patient found the strength to sing and smile once more.

“Seeing the peace that music gave them during some of their final moments cemented me into this career.”

At Willowbrook, specialty programs like music therapy allow us to care for patients in ways that go beyond traditional approaches, creating moments of comfort, connection, and peace when they matter most.

Because sometimes, the most powerful care doesn’t come from words.
It comes from connection.

At Willowbrook, we believe some of life’s most meaningful moments are found in the compassion, connection, and presence people share with one another.

This week for Social Work Month, we’re honored to celebrate Jeannette Longairc, LMSW, a hospice social worker whose decades of experience have shaped the lives of countless patients and families.

Jeannette earned her Master’s degree in Social Work from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, and has dedicated 35 years to hospice care, with the last year and a half spent at Willowbrook.

Her passion for hospice is rooted in the people she serves alongside each day. “I learned a long time ago that it is the staff that makes a hospice a trusted and preferred choice for families. Willowbrook has the finest staff I have ever worked with… from the RNs to the CNAs, they are a class of their own.”

What keeps her here is the dedication of her team. “Each and every person I work with is here to give everything they have every single day.”

She also shared deep gratitude for her team’s support during some of her most difficult moments, including the loss of her brother and her own battle with kidney cancer. “I couldn’t go on without mentioning Steph Foster, Willowbrook Hospice Clinical Director… she is my shining jewel in the midst of such emotional work.”

After a remarkable 35-year career, Jeannette plans to finish her journey in social work at Willowbrook, continuing to serve with the same compassion and dedication that has defined her work.

Jeannette shared, “It is said that God saves the best for last… and He certainly accomplished that when He allowed me to begin working at Willowbrook.”

Happy Social Work Month, Jeannette! We’re so honored to be part of your journey. 💙

March is Music Therapy Month 🎶

A time to recognize the way music brings comfort and connection in ways words often cannot.

At Willowbrook, our music therapy program creates moments of presence, connection, and brings a sense of peace, even in life’s most tender seasons. This month, we celebrate the role music therapy plays in creating moments that matter, moments of peace, familiarity, and connection.

🎶 Because we believe care should be felt, not just given.
