Post Election Fear and Anxiety TIPS and TOOLS

Know you're not alone: It's completely normal for us to feel a sense of loss or fear when election results don't align with our hopes and values. This takes a toll on mental health, making coping strategies.

Everyone processes emotions differently.
Use happy, healthy distractions like: Engaging in self-care activities, such as spending time outdoors, exercising or connecting with supportive friends can offer relief and a break from the stress.

Grounding techniques like deep breathing, journaling or simply naming your emotions to help process them can also be helpful.

Acknowledge your feelings. Honor them, examine them but don’t LIVE in them. Focusing on what you CAN control can ease stress.
LIMIT doomscrolling on social media!

Do not catastrophize the future with what is 'going to happen.' No one knows what will happen.

Avoid talking politics with family members of different opinions. Thanksgiving is around the corner. Nothing good comes from heated political arguments with your family members.

Practice RADICAL ACCEPTANCE

Seek help if none of the above works for you.
