‼️With hail potentially up to the size of baseballs and very strong winds possible tonight, take protective actions in advance!
🚗Park cars in a garage or carport. If no cover is available, park away from trees and power lines.
🪑Move patio furniture, garbage cans, potted plants, and grills into a garage or shed, as they can become dangerous projectiles.
📱Charge cell phones and batteries. Have flashlights, batteries, and a NOAA weather radio available.

Missourians are strongly encouraged to postpone outdoor activities & avoid being on the road when storms hit. Nighttime severe weather is particularly dangerous because visibility is severely reduced, & many people are asleep. It is critical to identify a safe place in advance & be prepared to take shelter quickly. Remember, the safest place to be during a tornado is an interior room with no windows on the lowest floor of sturdy structure, preferably in a basement. Do not shelter in a mobile home – consider staying with a friend, family member or at local storm shelter & plan to arrive well before storms move into your area.

Attention MO HealthNet and SNAP Participants: Look for the yellow envelope! The Family Support Division (FSD) will be mailing Annual Renewal forms and SNAP Mid-Certification Review forms in yellow envelopes. Make sure to complete and sign the forms inside and return them to FSD.

With the beginning of March and severe weather awareness, make sure your family is prepared.

Heartworm disease is a serious — and potentially fatal — condition that affects dogs right here in our community. Spread through mosquito bites, heartworms live in the heart and lungs, causing lasting damage before many pets ever show signs of illness. The good news? Heartworm disease is preventable — and early detection through testing is key to keeping your dog safe and healthy.

Even if your dog is on prevention, annual testing is recommended to ensure the medication is working properly and your pet remains protected.

The Joplin Humane Society is here to help! We will be offering $10 Heartworm Tests on Friday, March 6th from 9:00 AM–12:00 PM during our Vaccine Clinic.

This affordable clinic makes it easy to stay on top of your pet’s health. Don’t wait until symptoms appear — protect your furry family member today!

Help us spread the word and keep more pets heartworm-free! 🐾

Attention Faith Leaders and Ministry Teams in or serving Joplin, Duquesne, Duenweg, Webb City, Carterville, and Carl Junction!!

You play a vital role in caring for families, strengthening neighborhoods, and supporting those navigating hardship. The Thrive Joplin Project is a four-year, community-driven effort focused on improving health and wellness across the Greater Joplin region, and we believe the faith community has an essential role to play in this work.
During this lunch gathering, we will:
• Share an overview of the Thrive Joplin Project and the Healthy Community Blueprint
• Discuss how churches and ministries can plug into short- and long-term strategies
• Explore opportunities to serve as Community Champions
• Identify meaningful ways to elevate the voices of those you serve
This will be an informal and collaborative time of conversation, connection, and learning. Lunch will be provided.

💜💚💛 It’s Mardi Gras, y’all — time to let the good pets roll!

While everyone’s out collecting beads and king cake crumbs, here’s your festive reminder:
✨ Spay and neuter your pets! ✨

Because the only things we want “multiplying” this season are the parades…
not surprise litters of Mardi Paw-dlers. 🐶🐱🎭

Fixing your pets keeps them healthy and stops them from starting their own Fur-galicious Parade Krewe down your hallway at 3 a.m.

So go ahead — help them “laissez les fixed temps rouler!” 😆💜💚💛
