🧠 Mental Health Monday: October brings shorter days—and that can affect mood.

In the U.S., 12.1% of adults report frequent anxiety and 4.8% report persistent depression. As daylight shrinks, some of us feel seasonal shifts, too.

What helps:

• Prioritize sleep hygiene: consistent bed/wake times, morning light, fewer screens before bed 🌅📵
• Get daylight: even a short walk outside supports mood regulation 🚶‍♀️🍁
• Notice patterns: if your mood dips more this time of year, reach out—seasonal depression is treatable 🤝

Excellent work, North Star Pediatrics! 👏

Proud moment for North Star Pediatrics! The Jefferson County Public Health Service presented the pediatric care team with an award recognizing their outstanding efforts in blood lead testing for one and two-year-olds.

Thank you to our public health partners and to every parent and guardian who make prevention part of the well-child visit. Lead has no safe level. A blood test is the only sure way to know if a child has been exposed to lead. Testing at ages 1 and 2 helps catch exposure early.

If your child is due, ask at your next appointment or call to schedule.

The North Star Health Alliance and the Richard E. Winter Cancer Center will be hosting special luncheons in Carthage and Ogdensburg to help share the latest information about breast cancer awareness, prevention, and support resources.

💗 Early detection saves lives! Attendees will also hear presentations from our cancer specialists, who will discuss screening options, treatment advances, and ways to support loved ones affected by breast cancer.
