Pregnancy and parenthood are the perfect time to R E L E A S E judgement and be G E N T L E on yourself if you have not yet arrived in your journey of self-acceptance.

Pre-pregnancy, I had a hard time accepting the need to wear compression stockings. My own judgements about "what it meant to have to wear compression stockings" got in the way. I was young and these stockings are less than attractive, in my opinion.

However, I had medical need as veins webbed on my lower legs, I experienced swelling, and discomfort.

It was time. R E L E A S E + A C C E P T A N C E.

I am now nearing the end of my second trimester in my third pregnancy, and tonight, I texted my midwife this photo saying, "Bought some sexy lingerie that I am going to need your signature for to try to get reimbursement." Do I really think compression stockings are sexy? N O ! Have I released my pre-conceived notions and self-judgement about the N E E D to wear them? A B S O L U T E L Y. As I sit here in my nightgown, making the same lingerie joke to my husband, and guess what ! He did not even bat an eyelash, just winked and smiled.

So, wear the compression stockings, wear the belly belt; skip out on shaving when you cannot see your toes (or even before then if you're not feeling it).

Some mothers produce more milk than what their own babies require and may have the ability to donate "excess" breastmilk to another family in need, possibly even a lifesaving measure.

If you are interested in donating your breastmilk, I encourage you to get as much information as possible about where your milk is going and what the requirements for donation are to make the best informed decision. Your and your own baby's needs and comfort should always take priority.

Options for donating milk include contacting your local hospital or home birth midwife to find out about their milk banks, contacting Human Milk Banking Association of North America, looking into milk-shares like Human Milk 4 Human babies, or possibly donating to a family member in need.
