The Community Wellness Alliance team has been busy this week learning, networking, and growing! 🧡

We had the privilege of joining the Appalachia High Intensity Drug Trafficking Agency Youth Institute as well as the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services Annual Funded Coalitions Meeting.

These trainings equip us with new tools, strategies, and connections to better serve our community in prevention, recovery, and wellness. 🧡 Together, we are stronger and we are committed to making a difference here in Smith County and beyond!

Overdose does not discriminate.

It doesn't care about your age, race, income, background, or beliefs. It can impact anyone—friends, family, neighbors, coworkers—in any community.

That's why awareness, compassion, and access to help are so important. By breaking the stigma and starting real conversations, we can save lives. Together, we can .

🕯 August 31st—International Overdose Awareness Day 🕯

We remember the lives lost to overdose, stand with those grieving, and commit to creating a future free from this tragedy.

Overdose is preventable. When we work together—raising awareness, supporting recovery, breaking stigma, and expanding access to help—we can save lives.

Let's:
âś… Educate ourselves and others about addiction and the signs of overdose
âś… Check in on our friends, family and neighbors
âś…Support harm reduction and recovery resources
âś… Speak up to break the stigma

Every conversation matters. Every action counts. Together, we can .

The FDA is urging the DEA to classify 7-OH, a potent compound found in trace amounts of kratom, as a Schedule 1 substance due to its opioid-like effects and high risk for addiction. 7-OH can be found in fruit-flavored gummies, drink mixes, ice cream cones, and other products found in v**e shops. Other Schedule 1 substances include he**in, L*D, and ecstasy.

💊 Prescription stimulants can help—when they’re prescribed to YOU.

When used under medical supervision, stimulant medications (like Adderall or Ritalin) can safely treat conditions like ADHD. But using them without a prescription is risky. đźš«

âś… Safe when prescribed.
⚠️ Dangerous when shared, misused, or taken without a doctor’s guidance.

Side effects, heart risks, addiction, and legal trouble aren’t worth it.
Take meds seriously. Take them responsibly.
