📣Are you a trans*- identifying person over age 18 who has thought to themself, “I wish I had someone to talk to who’s been there before” or “I really want to help others in my community who might be struggling in the same ways I once did?”

📩If this is you, we want you to register for our upcoming “Trans Pen-Pals Program” that kicks off this coming June!

📋This program is intended for trans-identifying folks ages 18+ who either:
-Have medically and/or socially transitioned and are living full-time as their affirmed gender identity
OR
-Are new to embracing their identity and may not have fully socially and/or medically transitioned and are looking for support and wisdom from those who may have already transitioned

❤️The goal of this program is to connect folks with the needed support and/or impact on the community they are seeking, and to cultivate connections, while setting this up in a “low-demand” email messages format with less pressure and anxiety!

🎉Our team will do the “matching” and introduction portion, the rest is up to you after that - with no pressure!

📮To register, please visit the link in our bio!

Today on Earth Day, a reminder of the big picture:

“Look again at that dot. That’s here. That’s home. That’s us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every “superstar,” every “supreme leader,” every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there—on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.
The Earth is a very small stage in a vast cosmic arena. Think of the rivers of blood spilled by all those generals and emperors so that, in glory and triumph, they could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot. Think of the endless cruelties visited by the inhabitants of one corner of this pixel on the scarcely distinguishable inhabitants of some other corner, how frequent their misunderstandings, how eager they are to kill one another, how fervent their hatreds.
Our posturings, our imagined self-importance, the delusion that we have some privileged position in the Universe, are challenged by this point of pale light. Our planet is a lonely speck in the great enveloping cosmic dark. In our obscurity, in all this vastness, there is no hint that help will come from elsewhere to save us from ourselves.
The Earth is the only world known so far to harbor life. There is nowhere else, at least in the near future, to which our species could migrate. Visit, yes. Settle, not yet. Like it or not, for the moment the Earth is where we make our stand.”

🌈April is World Autism Month! ♾️

Autism is not a “one-size-fits-all” identity, and thus is represented by a “spectrum” of experiences, rather than a single concept or definition. This month celebrates and honors the range of experiences and identities of Autistic individuals! It emphasizes understanding, inclusion, and support, and moving beyond awareness towards meaningful acceptance and accessibility. Some of the most innovative and revolutionary thinkers of our time are those of Autistic individuals! All folks, regardless of neurotype, are entitled to dignity, support, and acceptance. Horizons is proud and honored to support Autisitic folks in their journeys, and continuously works to increase accessibility for all.

Here are some wonderful local resources for folks hoping to learn more about Autism and connect with others:

You’ve probably read so many posts on social media claiming to have “need to know” relationship advice, that frankly turn out to be click-bait. It can be so hard on these platforms to filter what information is helpful and accurate, and what is baiting our attention or an over-generalization that can actually be harmful to your relationships.

If you are in a q***r partnership, this can be even more overwhelming to navigate since q***r partnerships are even less represented in nuanced ways. Our trained LGBTQIA-specialized relationship therapists have compiled some ways to navigate the “pop psychology” culture online, and how to identify helpful vs. unhelpful information as q***r people seeking to improve our relationships in a digital age!
