Stay Healthy for the Holidays!
Cold, flu & RSV season is here — protect yourself and your loved ones with a few simple steps:

Prevention:
• Don’t wait to vaccinate! Flu, COVID & RSV vaccines are available for all ages, including pregnant patients.
• Eat well, hydrate, and get plenty of sleep.
• Wash hands often for at least 20 seconds.

If You Get Sick:
• Cover coughs/sneezes & stay home to rest and recover.
• Hydrate well and use steam or humidified air.
• Don’t guess — test! Cold, flu, RSV & COVID symptoms can overlap.
• Seek care if symptoms last several days or include breathing trouble, chest pain, high fever, confusion, or if you're very young, over 65, pregnant, or have chronic conditions.
• Call your doctor first for guidance or same-day/telehealth options.

🚨 Important Infant Formula Recall Update 🚨
ByHeart has expanded its recall to include ALL formula products, not just the initially flagged batches.

If you have any ByHeart formula at home:
✔️ Stop using it immediately
✔️ Write the date your baby last consumed it on the container
✔️ Do NOT throw it away — the FDA may need to test it if your baby develops symptoms

Parents should monitor their infants for any signs of botulism over the next 30 days. Symptoms of botulism include unusual weakness or decreased movement, poor feeding, constipation, droopy eyelids, trouble swallowing or excessive drooling, and breathing difficulties.

We’re thrilled to welcome Kara Willette, MSN, CPNP, to Western Wake Pediatrics! With more than 20 years of pediatric experience and advanced training in women’s health, Kara provides compassionate, comprehensive care with a special focus on adolescent gynecology.

She’s passionate about guiding teens through puberty and young adulthood—supporting menstrual health, puberty education, contraception counseling, and management of gynecologic concerns.

Outside the clinic, Kara loves paddleboarding, kayaking, cooking, and gardening. Please help us give Kara a warm welcome!

📢 GREAT NEWS for our community!

The federal government has reached a deal to reopen, and full November SNAP benefits were loaded onto EBT yesterday!

Here's a picture of Dr. Lopez dropping off some of our food-bank donations. We’ll continue to collect food donations for our community through Thanksgiving. Every can, box, and bag brings us one step closer to a hunger-free holiday for all.

Please, continue to donate what you can and thank you to everyone who has already donated!
