We’re proud to support the Bringing H.O.P.E. Campaign benefiting The No Woman, No Girl Initiative 💜

Founded by North Carolina resident Shirnetta Harrell, this incredible organization works to ensure women and girls across Wake County have access to basic, everyday necessities. Through the generosity of donors and volunteers, they provide a 90-day supply of 16 essential hygiene and personal care items — including pads, tampons, shampoo, soap, toothbrushes, and more.

They also distribute 30-day emergency supply kits to women and girls affected by fires, natural disasters, or fleeing domestic violence situations.

During March, we’ll have a donation box in our waiting room. Please consider donating new toiletry items such as shampoo, deodorant, soap, and feminine hygiene products. Financial donations and sharing awareness also make a meaningful impact.

Together, we can help provide dignity, health, and hope to women and girls in our community.

Let’s encourage our children to explore stories of courage, creativity, and change—because understanding history helps us build a brighter, more inclusive future together.

Big news in birth control options!

The U.S. FDA has approved an update to Nexplanon — the etonogestrel implant birth control — extending its approved duration from 3 years to up to 5 years! This means even longer protection from pregnancy with one implant, supported by clinical data showing no pregnancies reported during years 4 and 5 of use.

Why this matters:
• Longer lasting contraception with fewer replacements
• Strong evidence supporting continued effectiveness through 5 years
• More convenience and peace of mind for many individuals

As always, talk with your healthcare provider to see if this option is right for you!

Check out this video of Dr. Hannon explaining how we implant Nexplanon at visits!

February is National Children's Dental Health Month!

We'd like to remind families to brush their teeth twice per day with fluoride toothpaste. A pea-sized amount for kids over 5 years old and a smear (size of a grain of rice) for kids under 5 years old as soon as the first tooth comes in. See your friendly pediatric dentist twice a year starting at 1 year old!

Need a list of pediatric dentists? Just ask at your next appointment!

Dr. Lopez, Dr. Hannon, and Jenn Farrow spent last weekend learning with hundreds of other independent pediatric offices at the annual Pediatric Management Conference in New Orleans. In between Mardi Gras festivities, we learned how to continue to make Western Wake Pediatrics the best place to receive care and to work. As they say in New Orleans: Laissez les bons temps rouler!
