Dr. Wofford is now Board Certified in Breastfeeding & Lactation Medicine!

Congratulations to the inaugural 103 North American Board of Breastfeeding and Lactation Medicine physicians who are the first to be board certified in this rapidly evolving field.

At the end of the month of Thanksgiving, there is much Dr. Wofford is grateful for!
* The pioneers who decades ago began working tirelessly to create physician education that would improve our care of breastfeeding moms & babies.
* The colleagues and mentors who encourage, collaborate, and push each other to know & do better, and to move this field forward.
* The family who has supported her throughout, and the daughters who gifted her the opportunity to experience the intimacy of motherhood and all that comes with it.
* The countless patients who have entrusted their health and their stories to Dr. Wofford, and from whom she has learned so very much.
* The future to advocate for patients and families, and to provide expert medical care for families through each phase of life.

When you think something's wrong, you don't want to ignore it and you don't want to wait a long time for a medical appointment. What you DO WANT is access to a doctor who:
* will listen to you,
* take the time to get curious,
* and push for a diagnosis.

This lovely soul didn't ignore her symptoms. She sought my help after being told to wait until she was done breastfeeding.

Cancer is real. It doesn’t discriminate. As if the postpartum period isn’t hard enough, sometimes cancer rears its ugly head then.

Don’t wait!! Get it checked! And just as importantly, find a doctor who walk beside you, no matter what your health journey looks like.

Grateful to be part of the change we wish to see for Mothers! Our country's healthcare system is built to provide inadequate care for new moms, and the first days, weeks, and months postpartum is a crucial time to support women by meeting their healthcare needs and empowering them to reach the goals they have for infant feeding.

If you're a new parent, have been one, or know one, you probably realize how hard the first few months are! The US healthcare isn't presently designed to optimally support new parents. Physicians like myself are working to move postpartum care forward so every new parent can have comprehensive healthcare and compassionate support. You deserve to be seen, heard, and have access to care tailored to your needs and goals!
