Our very own Kyera McKrimmon was grateful to have attended the 8th Annual ADCNC Awards and Charity Gala, in support of Wendie Kidwell, founder of Ricky’s Retreat, a nonprofit dedicated to bringing awareness to mental illness and substance use in teens and young adults.

Kyera wrote- Ms. Kidwell, as I affectionately know her, continues to inspire me with her strength. I am glad I had the opportunity to honor the memory of my friend Ricky this evening alongside his loved ones.

The Black Poster Project is a traveling memorial honoring individuals who have lost their lives to addiction, overdose, and su***de. Each person is represented by a black poster featuring their photo and story, creating a space for reflection and remembrance. The project aims to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and provide support for those affected by these losses. I’m inspired by the way it brings communities together to honor lives and start important conversations.
