Sound healing isn’t rejected by science — it’s still being understood.
From a neurological perspective, sound is first processed by the brain and autonomic nervous system before it ever becomes a “healing” experience. Research in neuroscience and polyvagal theory shows that the body does not reorganize toward balance unless the nervous system perceives safety. When the system is regulated, sensory input like rhythm, tone, and vibration can support coherence, relaxation, and parasympathetic activity. When it’s not, the same input may feel neutral or even overwhelming.
This helps explain why the same frequency can feel deeply healing for one person and ineffective for another. It’s not about belief, resistance, or doing it wrong — it’s about state. Sound doesn’t override the nervous system; it works through it.
Seen this way, sound healing isn’t a magic fix. It’s a powerful tool that supports regulation, presence, and self-repair when the conditions are right. And that reframes the role of both the instrument and the practitioner.

Every physical structure has a natural resonant frequency.
This is not a belief — it’s physics.

From bridges to tuning forks to the human body, vibration travels differently through different materials based on density, elasticity, and structure. Living tissue is no exception.

In the 1990s, sound researcher Barbara Hero measured how sound waves moved through healthy human organs and calculated their resonant frequencies using the speed of sound. Each organ consistently expressed a measurable frequency — much like an instrument tuned to a specific note.
