This is a simple band warm up routine for pitchers to perform before throwing.

A proper warm up helps activate the muscles around the shoulder, improve mobility, and gradually prepare the arm for the demands of throwing.

Consistency with routines like this can play a key role in keeping athletes healthy throughout the season.

The biggest predictor of a future injury?
A previous injury.

If you’ve had knee pain, shin splints, plantar fasciitis…
You’re significantly more likely to deal with it again.
Why?

Because most people never fix what caused it in the first place.
They:

• Rest
• Feel better
• Go back to running

But the underlying issue is still there.

That’s why it keeps coming back.
Fix the cause, not just the symptoms.

Up to 50% of runners deal with an injury every year.
Research shows the majority of running injuries are overuse-related — meaning your body is taking on more stress than it can currently handle.
But in our experience, almost every running injury has a driver.
Yes, sometimes it’s purely overtraining…But more often, there’s a mechanical reason behind it.

That’s why:
• Rest alone doesn’t fix it• Stretching alone doesn’t fix it• And it keeps coming back
The real solution is:• Mastering run form• Building capacity• And identifying what’s actually driving the injury

That’s what keeps runners healthy long term.
Fix the cause, not just the symptoms.

This runner came in between races dealing with shin splint–type pain.

One of the main contributors we identified was overstriding, which can place increased stress on the lower leg. While treatments like dry needling can help reduce muscle tightness and calm symptoms, long-term improvement comes from addressing running mechanics and building a structured plan.

That’s how we help runners stay consistent and continue progressing.

If your shin splints keep coming back, it’s usually not just one simple problem.

There are often multiple structures involved, which is why it can be frustrating to deal with.

What we commonly see:

• Overtraining or increasing mileage too quickly
• Run form issues that increase stress on the lower leg
• And in some cases, needing more support like orthotics
That’s why just resting or icing doesn’t fix it long term.
You have to identify what’s actually driving the overload on your lower leg.
Once you address that, things start to change.
Identify the driver. Fix the root cause.

We can help.
Save this or send it to a runner dealing with shin pain.

Brian is a longtime runner who has completed multiple half marathons and full marathons.

After surgery, he was dealing with ongoing peroneal and plantar fascia pain and wasn’t able to run.

We took a comprehensive approach — looking at his foot type, prescribing custom orthotics, discussing shoe options, analyzing his running form, and building a structured strength program alongside hands-on treatment.

Recently, he’s been able to return to running with multiple successful, pain-free runs — and we’ll continue progressing him from here.

Stories like this are a reminder that having a plan makes all the difference.

Macy, a sprinter, came in dealing with hamstring irritation.

For track athletes, the hamstrings are under constant demand — especially during acceleration and top-end speed work. Managing irritation early and progressing strength appropriately is key to getting back to full performance.

At TheRunningPTs, we help athletes recover, rebuild, and return to their sport safely.
