Children need to learn that fruits should not only be snacks, but they can also be treats. We all love the natural sugar, and should move ourselves away from processed treats as much as possible. Not saying to avoid them completely, but we need to remember what we are allowing into our children's bodies as well as our own.

The basic five good groups:
1. Protein
2. Grains
3. Fruits
4. Vegetables
5. Dairy

Children can understand about their fruits and vegetables at around 4 years of age. Dairy, grains, and protein they'll learn as they get older. Talking to your children about their food and the food groups are super important! Even adults today have no clue what are the basic food groups.
