Outpatient Radiology East Campus has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in computed tomography (CT) as the result of a recent review by the American College of Radiology! CT scanning is a noninvasive medical test that helps our physicians diagnose and tailor treatments for various medical conditions. The accreditation at our East Campus means this facility has met the high standards of the ACR for quality and safety in medical imaging/radiation oncology treatment.

We're so proud of this team and everyone's hard work in earning this accreditation!

Let's get to know your lemons, ladies! 🍋🍋

As an ACR-accredited facility, we adhere to strict screening standards, which advise that mammograms should begin annually at age 40 for women with no family history or high-risk factors. We advise women at this age to receive screenings every year, with no cutoff age to stop screenings. Starting as early as 25, you should talk with your doctor about your individual breast cancer risk to determine if mammograms should begin earlier than age 40.

If you're due for your annual screening mammogram, let's take a look at your lemons! Self-schedule online at https://bit.ly/436a1CK or give us a call at (307) 232-5012.

Getting your mammogram with OPR team member Jessica Starr is easy peasy lemon squeezy!

Jessica is a radiologic technologist at CMI & OPR, and she is one of two Certified Breast Educators here. Trust us when we say, she knows her lemons! Jessica has been a part of the OPR team since 2022, when she began as a radiology intern and later became a radiologic technologist upon graduating in 2023. Jessica is a registered mammography technologist, which means she lives in the mammography world! As a proud breast educator, she will teach you all about your lemons, but she also performs DEXA scans, IR/FL procedures, and general X-rays.

"I can truly say I LOVE my position here at OPR and find it so rewarding working so closely with Jessie and my team in order to provide the best care for our patients. Women's health has become a true passion of mine, as well as being able to advocate for my patients and also educate them on an area that can be otherwise awkward or sensitive. It brings me so much joy when a patient comes in for breast imaging and they tell me I made the experience less uncomfortable/awkward for them while also giving them the best care and imaging I can," says Jessica.

Jessica is a proud mom to a little boy, enjoys lake days, camping trips, and running around with her puppies. We are so grateful to have her on this team!

Patients receiving an abbreviated breast MRI have a different experience from our traditional MRI patients. This type of MRI, used for further evaluation of breast abnormalities, requires additional safety and consideration due to the patient's position on the table. Our MRI technologists ensure patients are carefully positioned face down on the MRI table with breasts comfortably placed in the coil, ensuring minimal compression and optimal image quality.

We are thrilled to announce that the open MRI at our East Campus has now been accredited by the American College of Radiology. Becoming ACR-accredited is an important step in our commitment to providing the best, safest, and highest quality imaging to our patients.

The ACR gold seal of accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety. It is awarded only to facilities that meet specific requirements based on ACR Practice Parameters and Technical Standards, following a peer-review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field.

The accreditation ensures our East Campus open MRI facility meets all image quality, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures, and quality assurance programs just like our MRI suite at Banner Wyoming Medical Center. 🌟

Whatever happened to CAT scans?! Turns out, CT scans were initially called CAT scans, but the "A" was dropped to avoid confusion with cats.

Alright, alright. Here's the real reason. Although they are the same imaging, the "A" was dropped for a more modern and simplified name. The original term, "CAT scan," stood for computed axial tomography, while "CT scan" stands for computed tomography. Both terms refer to the same imaging technology, which uses X-rays and computer processing to create detailed cross-sectional images of the body.
