A message from Iris Clubhouse
On this day, we remember September 11, 2001, a day marked by tragedy, fear, and unimaginable loss. For many of us, the memories are still vivid: where we were, what we saw, and how it changed the way we viewed the world.
In the years since, our country has changed in many ways. Some of that change has been beautiful, communities coming together, strangers helping strangers, service in the face of sorrow. But other changes have been harder. There is more division now, more anger, more fear. And in too many places, less compassion.
At Iris Clubhouse, we believe that compassion is not just a response to crisis, it is the foundation for healing. It is the everyday act of seeing each other fully, without judgment. It is the quiet courage to stay kind when the world feels cold. It is holding space for one another, especially when life feels heavy.
We cannot erase hate with more hate. We cannot silence fear with silence. But we can choose love, again and again, even when it is hard.
Today, we remember those who were lost. We honor the bravery of those who stepped forward. And we hold tightly to one another, as a community, as a family, and as a reminder that we do not face this world alone.
We believe in hope. We believe in dignity. And we believe that compassion still matters.
