Iris Clubhouse

Iris Clubhouse A working community for adults who have a history of mental illness. In 2017 Iris House, Inc. was established.

A Clubhouse is a community of adults living with a diagnosable mental illness who come together to work towards personal goals. The clubhouse is a work-oriented program that helps people to build their job skills, to regain personal worth and to rejoin our community. Through this program, these individuals can lead rich and fulfilling lives, while at the same time reducing hospitalizations, incarcerations and the need for additional social services. The Iris Clubhouse provides opportunities and resources for friendship, employment, housing and education in a caring and safe environment. Our members have the opportunity for recovery and can participate as valued and respected members of society. We are in a “new” building, have a dedicated volunteer board, full support from the mental health community and goals to expand our program. We follow the Clubhouse Model of Psychosocial Rehabilitation, just as the 341 other Clubhouses throughout the world do.

A message from Iris Clubhouse

On this day, we remember September 11, 2001, a day marked by tragedy, fear, and unimaginable loss. For many of us, the memories are still vivid: where we were, what we saw, and how it changed the way we viewed the world.

In the years since, our country has changed in many ways. Some of that change has been beautiful, communities coming together, strangers helping strangers, service in the face of sorrow. But other changes have been harder. There is more division now, more anger, more fear. And in too many places, less compassion.

At Iris Clubhouse, we believe that compassion is not just a response to crisis, it is the foundation for healing. It is the everyday act of seeing each other fully, without judgment. It is the quiet courage to stay kind when the world feels cold. It is holding space for one another, especially when life feels heavy.

We cannot erase hate with more hate. We cannot silence fear with silence. But we can choose love, again and again, even when it is hard.

Today, we remember those who were lost. We honor the bravery of those who stepped forward. And we hold tightly to one another, as a community, as a family, and as a reminder that we do not face this world alone.

We believe in hope. We believe in dignity. And we believe that compassion still matters.

✨ The Clubhouse has so much to offer! ✨

Our work-ordered day is the heartbeat of the Clubhouse, where members and staff work side by side to keep everything running. But support and community don’t stop at 4:30. We also host after-hours and weekend activities for members who work during the day, and for anyone who wants to connect.

This week, with the heat soaring over 100 degrees, we brought the fun inside with indoor yard games and had the honor of welcoming two very special guests, board members Erin Shipley and Seth Wheeler!

It was inspiring to see them not only join in the fun but also hear directly from members about their experiences. These moments remind us of the incredible impact of the Clubhouse community and the dedicated people who support it. 💙

As always please feel free to learn more information at https://www.irisclubhouse.org

🥍The LaCROSSe out Violence and Su***de event was incredible!🥍

Our staff and members had an amazing time both days! We were able to volunteer to work with youth to teach mental health agility skills and pick up some lacrosse skills all while doing it!

We also had a booth for parents and community partners to visit us, and we talked about our organization and what it is like transitioning from a youth to an adult with mental illness. A lot of youth lose supports when they transition into adulthood, so we want to be a more active part of the conversation to be a support they gain rather than lose.

We appreciate our friends and partner Central Wyoming Counseling Center as well as our new friends at Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Wyoming, Prosper Together, USA Lacrosse and more for their amazing contributions to this event. We will always be an excited community partner to contribute and volunteer as a clubhouse for more events!

One of our favorite parts was meeting Erin Switzer aka the model and inspiration for Ghost from Call of Duty parachuted in and met with so many youth to speak about his experiences and the power of reaching out.

We highly encourage you to sign up for the next time an event like this happens! It is WELL worth your time.

🌿 Clubhouse Moments Between the Madness 🌿

Since May, the Iris Clubhouse has been full steam ahead with our new Executive Director stepping in, the Be Kind to Your Mind 5K, and a wildly successful WyoGives. It’s been go, go, go, and now we’re finally catching our breath. Well, sort of!

“Calm” might not be the right word, because even in quieter moments, our members and staff are hard at work keeping the clubhouse running strong. Whether it’s managing banking, designing calendars in Canva, or even writing this post, everything we do is a team effort. That’s what makes the Iris Clubhouse so special.

As we enjoy this short pause between fundraisers, we’re turning our focus to grant writing and sponsorships to help keep our clubhouse thriving. We do it all for our staff, our members, and of course, our beloved turtles, Samson and Delilah (pictured: Samson 🐢).

We have very few words to say but all of them are words of gratitude. With WyoGives before any incentive fund we made $5,990.00. Every dollar contributes more than anything else towards adults living with mental illness in our area.

With your support everyday not just with WyoGives we are able to assist members in getting jobs, going back to school or even just a sense of belonging.

Every one of those outcomes is thanks to your donations.
