We celebrated our 100th successful WATCHMAN procedure since beginning the program in 2022 last week. Banner Wyoming Medical Center was the first in Wyoming to offer the latest left atrial appendage closure technology. The device is designed to reduce stroke risk and serve as an alternative to the lifelong use of blood thinners for people with atrial fibrillation not caused by a heart valve problem. Banner Wyoming Medical Center’s medical director of cardiovascular services and cardiologist Adrian Fluture, M.D., placed No. 100 on Thursday, May 9.

“We are so happy to be able to offer this procedure for our patients,” said Fluture. “It has been a team effort; the cath lab team, pre-op, recovery, anesthesiology, telemetry, imaging, our structural heart team – they should all be very proud.”

Patients with questions about AFib or lowering their risk of stroke are encouraged to schedule an appointment with their primary care provider.

Congrats to our amazing team!
