Ernest Allan Campbell

ERNEST ALLAN CAMPBELL

Ernie A. Campbell, 83, of Caro, passed away Tuesday, September 2nd, 2025 in his home with family by his side. He was born November 26, 1941 in Bay City to Pete and Anne (Buich) Campbell. He married Norma Jean Cummings on April 29, 1961. After 49 years of marriage, Norma passed away on October 29, 2010. He married Donna Wright on October 26th, 2012 in Kingston.

Ernie lived a full and vibrant life defined by hard work, family, and simple pleasures. He began his career at Michigan Sugar and later at Saginaw Steering Gear, where his dedication and strong work ethic shone through. Eventually, Ernie followed his entrepreneurial spirit and founded C&C Home Builders, a business he poured his heart into and took great pride in. His craftsmanship can still be seen in the homes he built, each one a testament to his skill and determination.

Family was always at the center of Ernie’s world. He cherished fishing trips with his children, especially the adventures that took them all the way to Canada. Those trips weren’t just about catching fish—they were about laughter, bonding, and creating memories that his family will treasure forever.

Ernie also loved to travel, often planning and looking forward to cruises and new places to explore. At home, he found joy in the everyday—playing cards with friends, cheering on his favorite sports teams on television, and perfecting his swing at Arrowhead Golf Course in Caro. Golf was more than a pastime for Ernie; it was his passion. Known for his competitive spirit, Ernie rarely turned down a challenge. Many Arrowhead members can recall a memorable round of golf with him, filled with friendly rivalry, determination, and more than a few good laughs. If there was daylight, you could usually find him out on the course, giving his all to the game he loved.

Beyond his work and hobbies, Ernie’s skilled hands were always put to use in service of others. He believed in giving back to the community that had given him so much. Whether he was helping to lay block for the school’s weight room, lending his expertise on the football press box, or contributing his talents to projects at his church, Ernie poured his time and craftsmanship into making a difference. He took great pride in these efforts, knowing they would benefit generations to come.

Those who knew Ernie will also smile remembering his sweet tooth. He had a fondness for candy and often tried—sometimes successfully, sometimes not—to sneak a piece without Donna noticing. That playful streak, combined with his warmth and humor, made him beloved by family and friends alike.

Above all, Ernie’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and dedication. He was a man who worked hard, lived well, and deeply valued the people around him. His competitive drive and playful spirit touched everything he did—whether on the golf course, at work, or in his community—and will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.

Ernie is survived by his wife, Donna; children: Wade (Theresa) Campbell of Kingston; Bryan (Maribel) Campbell of Caro; Shane (Penny) Campbell of Almont; Stacey Campbell of Saginaw; Judy (Jim) Swoish of Kissimmee, FL; grandchildren: Joshua, Zachary, Kayla, Trischa, Aki, Ayuki, Isacc, Isabella, Noah, Blake, Adam, Laken, JJ, Jamie, Jeffrey; many great and great great grandchildren; Donna’s children: Angela (Christian) Sanich, Shawn (Tiffany) Reitz, Andrea (Dave) Erickson and their families; siblings: Larry, Ray, and Carol. He is preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Norma; brother, Dave Campbell.
