💙 Wellness Wednesday – Create a “Yay!” List

The holiday season can get busy — and sometimes a little overwhelming. One simple way to lift your spirits and stay grounded is to create a “Yay!” List every night.

A Yay List is a quick reflection on anything that made you smile or feel grateful during the day. These little moments matter — and they’re easy to overlook.

Here are some things that might go on your list:

✨ Finding a few dollars in your winter coat pocket
✨ A surprise call from a friend or family member
✨ Hearing a favorite Christmas song on the radio
✨ A client sharing a sweet holiday story
✨ Catching a beautiful sunset on your way home
✨ Seeing Christmas lights around town
✨ A cozy cup of cocoa shared with someone you care for

For our clients, this can be a wonderful way to stay positive during the winter months. Encouraging them to talk about one “Yay!” moment each day — even something small — can boost mood, reduce stress, and create meaningful connection during caregiver visits.

🎄 Holiday Tip:
Pick up a festive journal or notepad to make it fun! Holiday-themed pages or winter colors can help motivate you (and your clients) to reflect each night. It’s a cozy way to end the day and stay mindful during the busiest season of the year.

Celebrate the little things — they add up to big joy. 💙

🎄 Fun Fact Friday – December 12th
✨ The Tradition of Christmas Stockings Started by Accident!

Legend says Christmas stockings became a tradition thanks to Saint Nicholas and a struggling family.
A widowed father couldn’t afford gifts for his three daughters, so St. Nick secretly dropped bags of gold down the chimney — and they landed in the girls’ stockings hanging by the fire to dry.

That heartwarming story sparked a tradition that’s lasted for hundreds of years!

🧦 Today, stockings are one of the most loved parts of Christmas morning — and they started as a simple act of kindness.

💙 Wellness Wednesday – Pamper Your Feet

Your feet carry you through long days, busy schedules, and Michigan winters — they deserve a little love!

A pedicure is so much more than painting your nails. Taking time to care for your feet can help remove calluses, soften rough spots, and leave you feeling relaxed from head to toe.

✨ Wellness Tip:
Use a foot mask or gentle exfoliating scrub before trimming nails or pushing back cuticles. This helps soften tough, dry skin and leaves your feet feeling baby-soft.

Whether you’re a caregiver on your feet all day or a senior needing a little extra comfort, pampering your feet is a simple act of self-care that goes a long way. 💙

🎄 Fun Fact Friday – December 5th
🎅 Did You Know Where the First “Christmas Lights” Came From?

Before electric lights existed, people used to decorate their Christmas trees with candles (yes—actual open flames on dry trees!).

The tradition began in Germany in the 1600s, where families attached tiny candles to branches using melted wax or pins. Thankfully, by the early 1900s, electric string lights became widely available… and holiday decorating got way safer! 🔌✨

💡 Bonus Fun Fact: Thomas Edison’s business partner, Edward H. Johnson, created the very first string of electric Christmas tree lights in 1882—and hung them on a rotating tree in his home. Talk about festive!

🥘 Cozy Hamburger & Vegetable Soup (Stovetop or Crockpot)

6️⃣ Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Serve warm with crackers or bread.

🫕 Crockpot Directions:

1️⃣ Brown ground beef with onion on the stove, drain fat.
2️⃣ Add cooked beef, all veggies, tomatoes, tomato sauce, broth, and seasonings to the crockpot.

🖤 Fun Fact Friday – Black Friday Edition!

Did you know…

🛍️ Black Friday wasn’t originally about shopping at all?
The term first showed up in the 1950s in Philadelphia, when police used it to describe the huge crowds and traffic jams that happened the day after Thanksgiving as people came into the city for the Army–Navy football game.

It didn’t become a national “shopping holiday” until the 1980s, when retailers flipped the meaning to something positive — the idea of stores going from “in the red” to “in the black.”

💡 Bonus fun fact: Black Friday is one of the busiest days of the year for plumbers, thanks to… well… a lot of Thanksgiving leftovers moving through the pipes.

Whether you're shopping, relaxing, or recovering from too much pie, we hope your Friday is a good one! 🖤🦃✨
