Today for Minnesota Infant Safe Sleep week,
we pause to remember the babies who have passed due to sleep-related deaths. Though their time with us was brief, their spirit remains forever woven into the hearts of their families and communities.
In many Indigenous teachings, our babies are sacred gifts, carried by the ancestors and guided by the Creator’s love. We honor their memory with softness, prayer, and a commitment to protecting our future little ones through safe sleep practices.
May their journeys be peaceful, and may their families feel surrounded by comfort, strength, and community.🤍💫

Infant Safe Sleep week! 💤🌙

Did you know using a pacifier during naps and bedtime can lower the risk of sleep-related infant deaths?

•Offer at naptime & bedtime
•Do not force baby to keep pacifier in mouth
•No strings or clips attached to pacifier
•Safe even if pacifier falls out of baby’s mouth

Used correctly, pacifiers are a safe sleep tool! Pacifiers + ABCs of safe sleep = extra layer of protection 🤍

Join us for our 4th Annual Turkey Trot hosted by the LLBO Diabetes Clinic!
Let’s get moving together before the holiday season and enjoy some fun, fitness, and community spirit!

Date: Thursday, November 20th
Start Time: 1:00 PM
Route: From the Diabetes Clinic to the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe building and back
Perks: Light snack and a stocking cap provided to all participants!

Come walk with us — all ages welcome! Bring your friends, family, and co-workers to kick off the season in a healthy way. 💙

Infant Safe Sleep week! 💤🌙

Minnesota winters are cold, but extra blankets in the crib, bassinet, or pack n play can put babies at serious risk. During Infant Safe Sleep week let’s keep our little ones warm AND safe:

•Dress baby in layers, not loose blankets.
•Use a sleep sack for warmth.
•Keep the room comfortably cool. (not hot)
•No blankets, no pillows, no hats, & no stuffed animals in baby’s sleep space.

A bundled crib, bassinet, or pack n play is not safe for baby - even on the coldest MN nights.

It’s Infant Safe Sleep week in Minnesota!💤🌙

An important reminder that simple practices can save lives. All caregivers—parents, grandparents, childcare providers—can help protect babies by following the ABCs of Safe Sleep:

A – Alone: Babies should always have their own sleep space with no soft bedding, toys, pillows, or blankets.

B – Back: Place baby on their back for all naps and nighttime sleep to reduce the risk of Sudden Unexpected Infant Death (SUID).

C – Crib: Use a safety-approved crib, bassinet, or pack ’n play with a firm mattress and fitted sheet only.

Consistent safe sleep practices help keep babies healthy, safe, and thriving.
