Happy World Doula Week 2026!
Another year of serving women in my community and beyond as a doula and I wanted to take some time this week to reflect on my journey into birthwork.
I have always been fascinated with pregnancy and birth. Our bodies are truly AMAZING!
When I was younger, I didn't know about doulas and thought the only careers around birth were medical. I didn't even know a lot about midwives as everyone around me had hospitals births. I thought there was only one approach to birth. So, despite my fascination and interest, I never saw myself fitting into the birth world.
Fast forward to adulthood where I learned about midwives and doulas. I began reading more about these roles preparing for the pregnancy and birth of my son.
I began to feel called to this line of work but doubted myself. Starting your own business and taking this leap of faith into a new career path is daunting.
During my son's birth, I felt that everything I had questioned in myself and in my life didn't matter anymore. I felt transformed. I knew I was there to be his mother and to eventually serve other women during that same transformative moment in their lives.
After that it was undeniable.
I was meant to be a doula & the rest is history.
