Genetic testing is the very first thing that should happen when a baby is born. Skip injecting them with all kinds of crap. Let them really know what they're up against. I have no idea why this is not done.
Scientists have uncovered a critical genetic switch that could pave the way for new treatments for multiple sclerosis (MS). The study highlights the role of Egr-1, a gene essential for maintaining regulatory T cells (Tregs), which prevent the immune system from attacking the body’s own tissues. In a mouse model of MS, deleting Egr-1 led to a loss of Tregs, a surge of inflammatory cells, and worsened symptoms. Researchers showed that Egr-1 activates Foxp3, the master protein for Treg function, and is itself turned on by the TGF-β pathway. By using a plant-derived compound called calycosin, they successfully reactivated Egr-1, restored Treg balance, and eased disease symptoms—but only when Egr-1 was present. These findings point to Egr-1 as a promising therapeutic target for autoimmune diseases.
