Colorectal cancers have been on the rise among young people. Now, a new study adds to evidence that ultra-processed foods, which make up nearly 60% of American adults’ caloric intake, may be a possible contributor.

The study: The research, from Mass General Brigham Cancer Institute in Boston, suggests that eating ultra-processed foods like soda, breakfast foods and condiments may significantly raise the odds of developing the early-age growths that can lead to colorectal cancer. [CNN]

In a historic breakthrough, scientists in Sweden and the U.S. used CRISPR gene editing to modify donor pancreatic islet cells, making them invisible to the immune system.
Two edits reduced immune-triggering proteins, and a third added a CD47 “don’t eat me” signal, protecting the cells from attack. These edited cells were transplanted into the patient’s forearm, where they survived and began producing insulin, marking the first time a human with type 1 diabetes has regained insulin production without lifelong immunosuppressive drugs.
While he still uses some insulin therapy, this approach could pave the way toward a functional cure for millions living with type 1 diabetes.

I have avoided fluoride for many years. I've argued with dentists. It gets shipped in a hazardous materials container. That should be your first clue to question putting it in your mouth so close to your brain....
