Hello Yoga Kurunta community! Saturday, May 2nd from 2-4PM we are hosting an open house at the studio and would love for all of you to attend and bring someone you know needs yoga in their life!

Come meet our teachers, owners Mary & Miranda and explore the studio space. We will provide brief rope wall demonstrations throughout the open house. There will be refreshments, music, vendors, discounts on class packages and boutique items and raffle prizes!

Our Monday night class "Unwind" is getting an update! Moving to an earlier time at 6pm. There will now be an hour of Gentle Yoga followed by an optional 30 minutes of Yoga Nidra.

Unwind: Gentle Yoga & Deep Rest - Unwind invites you to slow down and let go. This class begins with gentle, mindful movement to ease the body and quiet the mind, then transitions into Yoga Nidra — a guided, meditative rest that supports deep relaxation and renewal.

As we move into April Yoga Kurunta is full of renewal, rejuvenation, and revitalization.

The first Iyengar Yoga Workshop will happen this month April 10, 11 & 12 with Mary O & Eddy M . Excited doesn't begin to come close to describing how we are feeling. Its been over 10 years since they have taught in San Antonio. You don't want to miss this! Saturday afternoon will be a special rope wall session.

Mary & Eddy direct the BKS Iyengar Yoga Center of San Diego (est. 1979). They are Senior Iyengar teachers certified at the Advanced level. They have studied with the Iyengars in India 19 & 20 times respectively and spent a year from 2003-2004 and another half year in 2009 studying in Pune, India with the Iyengars. They adhere strictly to BKS Iyengar's methodology and continue their education by studying in India with the Iyengars. They enjoy the challenge of teaching in diverse communities and are committed to sharing the intricacies and joys of yoga with all.,

Sunday we have a very special Sunday Funday Flow - with Puppies!! We are teaming up again with the Lucky Spot Dog Rescue to bring you puppy yoga class! 🐕

🐶 Sunday March 8 • arrive at 1:30pm to get some puppy play time in. Yoga with Kerri starts at 2(ish). $10-$20 suggested donation.

🐕The rescue has a new batch of puppies that are looking for their FURever homes and a second batch not quite ready to be adopted because they need serious medical care. Donations are greatly needed. The rescue is always accepting supplies as well. Swipe ⬅️ for donation information. 🐾🦮

Yesterday's Balancing Backbends workshop was an all around good time! You all rose to the challenge and hung in there - literally! Everyone was eager to learn and try familiar things in a new way. Spring is feeling sprung and that means spring cleaning and refreshing!

Join us Saturday March 7 for Yoga Kurunta's annual Fitness Clothing and Supply Swap.

This is a fun way to connect with community while swapping things that no longer bring you joy while finding new things to love! The swap is open to men and women. The more people that participate the better! Bring athletic, athleisure, casual clothing just not those prom dresses! Any other items you want to trade are welcome!

The swap is easy - bring an item trade am item, bring 5 take 5, bring 10 take 10 etc...

Don't want to take anything but want to donate? Donate 10 items and get a drop in class credit!

Fine print - bring things in good condition. If a resale shop wouldn't buy it don't bring it here.

If you can bring items to the studio ahead of time that is a big help. If not no worries show up with stuff to trade.

I have a fun one for you today for
Creative Prop Challenge! There are so many great ways to use the chair for this pose it couldn't decide on just 1!

Day 17 Prop is the Yoga Chair - Eka Pada Galavasana / Flying Pigeon

I present to you 4 variations of Eka Pada Galavasana

1. Shin on the top rim of the chair - gives a great feeling of flying and teaches to lift the back leg.
2. Going backwards through the chair - this variation can help close the gap between the chest and shin.
3. Facing the front of the chair- this variation can keep the foot more forward to keep the shin parallel.
4. On the bar of the chair - the shin makes contact with the arms like the classic pose and just the thigh is resting on the bar providing lots of work.
