Tips for Protecting Your Eyes this Summer
🕶Use Sunglasses with Complete UV Protection🕶
Sunglasses are important to wear year round, especially during the summer. But you have to make sure you are wearing the correct sunglasses! Be sure that your sunglasses are marked as 100% Ultraviolet (UV) protection. Protecting your eyes from harmful UV rays will not only keep your eyes healthy, but preserve your vision as well. Don’t forget to wear your sunglasses anytime you are outside–including cloudy days. And if you have a prescription, be sure that your sunglasses you wear are prescription sunglasses.
👒Wearing a Hat? Don’t Forget Sunglasses!
Some people think that a hat is a replacement for sunglasses when shading your eyes from the glare of the sun’s light. But wearing a hat without sunglasses can actually damage your eyes even more. When you shade your eyes with a hat, but don’t wear sunglasses, it’s like leaving the door wide open for harmful UV rays. So if you shade your eyes with a hat, don’t forget to pop on your sunglasses too.
🥕Eat Healthy and Stay Hydrated 💧
Be sure that you are continuing to eat a balanced and healthy diet. Colorful fruits and veggies, as well as nuts, seeds, and omega-3 fatty fish can support your eye health. Also drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. Dehydration can lead to eye strain, causing your vision to become blurry, leading to headaches.
