The World Health Organization (WHO) recently released a report stating that tuberculosis (TB) has surpassed COVID-19 as the leading infectious disease killer globally. This is a significant development, highlighting the ongoing challenge posed by TB, particularly in low and middle-income countries. The report indicates a concerning rise in TB cases, with an estimated 8.2 million people newly diagnosed in 2023.
Surprising. Not really. TB has killed more people in this world than any other communicable disease. The last time I checked about 6 months ago on causes of death, it was still #13 on the list.
Does it have to be and what does nutrition have to do with TB? I would say a lot. Alfred McCann, in his book The Science of Eating, wrote in his section Food Calcium and Tuberculosis the following:
“All food, if unrefined, is good food. Food, unprocessed by man, contains all the elements necessary to a successful journey through the human body. Any combination of natural foods, unrefined, which you can think of, will place at her disposal the raw materials needed by Mother Nature not only in her process of curing tuberculosis, but in her function of protecting the body against it…the lack of absorbable calcium salts in the diet favours(sp) loss of resisting power against infection.”
McCann is talking to the tissue form of calcium, calcium bicarbonate and his comments are from 1917. Yes, 1917. When calcium is pushed to the cells, it creates a calcium wave which supports the phagocytes to help destroy the pathogen, in this case TB. It has also been studied to support the body against Sepsis and the nasty viral infection, COVID. What’s sad is that there are studies in mainstream medical journals that all support this knowledge but ignored.
Maybe instead of the miracle cure that has been all elusive for the past 100 years, we should consider the nutritional status of the body first.
“To be ignorant of what occurred before you were born is to remain always a child.”
