Radical self-care. ♥️

I love smoothies! They are the perfect solution to those mornings when time for breakfast is limited. ⏰

But just like with anything, they can be made to be nourishing or less than.

To make sure I get the most out of my smoothies I use the following guidelines:

* Nutrient-dense! I add ingredients that are packed with nutrients...A.K.A Spinach, Arugula, Kale, etc.

* Energy boosting! I add in collagen powder from Vital Proteins and fat from avocados and almond butter to keep me fuller, longer.

* Drink your solids! Chew your liquids! Did you know your digestion is activated by chewing? Chewing releases enzymes in your saliva to break down food. As a self-proclaimed gut health nerd I make sure I’m breaking down and absorbing as much as I possibly can. If I’m going to buy high quality organic food I might as well utilize it for the energy it can give me!

So when I make a smoothie, I add in some blueberries or lightly chopped nuts or I eat a handful of nuts along with my smoothie so that I can chew, chew, chew.

I am so full of abundance today with the unexpected bounty of my first garden this year!! ♥️👩‍🌾♥️👩‍🌾♥️👩‍🌾

I didn’t expect much at all, seeing as I’ve never done this before. So the fact that we’ve eaten so many delicious tasting strawberries, cucumbers and apples is just beyond my imagination!!!

Zucchini, spaghetti squash and bell peppers didn’t do so great. And we’re still waiting on the broccoli and carrots.

Is this for real?! 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩

That after workout glow!! ✨ E X C I T E D!!! I cannot even express how excited I am with today’s workout!

It’s been about 5 months since I have worked out hard enough to sweat. 😅

Earlier this year when I was diagnosed with SIBO my fatigue was so bad that all I wanted to do was sleep. I literally stopped everything that would be stressful on my body - food, workouts, extra curricular, etc. My workouts were very gentle - walks and gentle yoga.

This diagnosis was hard on many levels but I think the hardest part was truly listening to my body’s pleas and rest. I’ve been a chronic cardio-aholic for the majority of my adult life. Giving up on that felt like giving up on my identity. But I really had no choice. I just had no energy.

There were a few times in this healing process where I thought I was feeling better. I would push myself with a hard workout and then I’d crash the next week because my body wasn’t ready.

If there was any advice I could give myself earlier in the year it would be...Listen! Listen! Listen to those symptoms! Stop and rest!!

The reality is, it will take you longer to heal and get stronger if you are fighting your body the whole way through it.

And just in a seasons time I’m feeling better...I can feel the shift at a cellular level. And today when I tried light strength training with my Empack for the first time in months it FELT AMAZING!!!!

Sending you all love and the strength to stop and rest when you need it!! ❌⭕️❌⭕️♥️♥️♥️♥️
