Happy New Year to all of our beautiful patients! Your optometrists here at The Optometry Center would like to offer some suggestions to your running list of New Year resolutions:

1. STAY HEALTHY! Mask up, wash your hands, get your vaccinations and boosters. Also, stay hydrated and partake in a complete diet with plenty of antioxidants. Trust us, your eyes and body will thank you!

2. TAKE BREAKS FROM SCREENS! We understand your busy lifestyle, but taking even a few minutes to look outside of a window or to just simply close your eyes will make a world of difference for your screen-related eyestrain and headaches.

3. WEAR SUN PROTECTION! Ultraviolet rays are not your friend. Protect yourself with sunglasses and brimmed hats to prevent/delay the onset of cataracts, macular degeneration, and pterygia.

We are hopeful for a great New year, we hope to see you all soon here at The Optometry Center!

This is long overdue but we are both saddened and pleased to officially announce DR. POPE'S RETIREMENT.

Dr. Pope finally took the plunge in October of 2020 and decided to begin his retirement journey. As you are all aware, Dr. Pope has been a tremendous presence both in this practice and in the lives of his patients. We are sad to see him go but also happy that he now gets to enjoy all of his hard work throughout the years.

We still have three very capable and knowledgeable doctors eager to pick up with where Dr. Pope left off: Dr. Zhublawar (current owner of practice), Dr. Truong, and Dr. Llanera. We hope to see many of Dr. Pope's patients returning to our office for continued top notch eye care :)

Dr. Pope wishes all of his patients the very best and hopes everyone stays healthy and happy.

WE ARE BACK IN ACTION!!!

We apologize for the long hiatus on our page but we are now back and ready to notify you of any upcoming promotions we are having at the office, drop any random tidbits of knowledge to keep your eyes happy and healthy, and just send positive thoughts your way!

It is officially April which means it is officially SPORTS EYE SAFETY MONTH!!! Did you know that roughly 100,000 people experience some type of sports-related eye injury every year and almost 15% of those cases can result in PERMANENT vision loss? Don't let it be you!

We've all been getting restless indoors for the past year and now that the weather is getting so nice outside we WANT you to go out and play! (safely and within social distancing protocols, of course). Recreational activities such as sports are essential for maintaining a healthy lifestyle and healthy eyes, just be sure to wear proper protective eyewear and other necessary protective gear. And IF an unfortunate sports-related accident occurs, come in right away so we can ensure you receive the eye care you need to preserve your vision!

05/07/2020

Dear patients,

The time has come and we are pleased to announce that we will be seeing patients for comprehensive eye exams starting Tuesday, May 12, 2020 by appointment only. Our office hours will be different (open Tuesday-Saturdays) and appointments will be spaced out to maintain social distancing efforts and to allow time for sterilization in between patients. As we navigate this "new normal", the safety of our patients and staff remains a main priority. Please carefully read the following changes and updates regarding safety protocol in compliance with current local and state regulations:

1. When making an appointment, you will be asked if you have any flu-like symptoms, illness or fever and if you have been exposed to anyone COVID-19 positive in the last 2-14 days.
2. Only patients with scheduled appointments will be allowed into the office unless the patient is a minor and is accompanied by a caregiver.
3. For all visits to the office, a face covering or mask is required. If you do not have a face covering, we will have masks available for purchase.
4. There will be no walk-ins to our office. All repair/adjustments or frame selections must have an appointment.
5. For all new patients, please download and fill out all paper work prior to your appointment. All the forms you may need are on our office website, including our medical history form (in English and Spanish), Acknowledgement of Receipt of Notice of Privacy Practices, Notice of Privacy Practices, and Phone Payment Authorization form.
6. We may ask you to check in from your cars in the parking lot to better prepare for your arrival before you enter the office. We may also start your medical history while you wait in the car and have all instruments prepped/sterilized for you upon entering.
7. You may be asked to use your own pen to reduce potential transmission of disease.
8. For payments over the phone, please download the "Phone Payment Authorization" form and email it back to us.

Keep in mind:
1. If patients have any emergencies, our doctors will first do a virtual/telemedicine consultation.
2. We will still use the express pick-up/drive through area. Please call us from your car and one of our staff members will bring your glasses/contacts to you.
3. All contact lens orders can be made over the phone or through our website and shipped directly.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to give us a call, text or email. We are here for you to meet your essential eye care needs. If you made this far, here is a video to hopefully give you a smile this Thursday! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wilDZAuUyUA.

Stay safe and wash your hands:)

04/09/2020

Happy Thursday everyone,

The Optometry Center appreciates your support and understanding as we do our part to and prevent the spread of COVID-19 to friends and family members in our community and country.

The office is still available for urgent/emergency eye care (in compliance with CDC advisory, routine eye visits are postponed at this time)! It is especially important now to prevent overwhelming hospital emergency rooms and to keep frontline professionals available to better manage pandemic concerns. Although it may not be possible to come into the optometry office now, there are video-based consult options via Facetime, Skype and telehealth platforms.

Here are some examples of an eye emergency:
-Trauma/injury to the eye
-Red eye
-Painful eye
-Flashes of light
-Floaters in vision
-Strange or sudden changes in vision

If you have any further questions/concerns, please call or email our office so we may better triage your signs and symptoms. Again, thank you for your patience as we continue to navigate this unprecedented time.

Stay safe and healthy,
The Optometry Center
